Yeah, you should stick to ordering belts that you can cut down yourself, since you don't know how to measure :D

I ordered one of these belts, week or two ago, and I was AMAZED at how quickly it shipped. I ordered it at around 6pm EST, and received a notice around 9pm that it had been shipped! Shipping didn't take long, and the belt arrived in great condition. The materials are high quality, especially the buckle, and the webbing is the same type used in my Full body harness.

While there are some things that I personally might change, overall this is a great belt. Particularly fashionable in a rugged kind of way, though Kary is right, I wouldn't want to rappel using this belt.

Thanks Kary!

And I have seen similar belts used as gun belts but they have usually been double layered. Which I have been debating on have some made up. I am going to be making some phone calls today to a different webbing vendor and a different sewing company, I am going to get a price on making these double layered, or using a double layer combination of two different types of webbing to get the best out of both types of webbing. I will keep zombie squad posted, ofcourse.

I am also working on getting some coyote tan webbing, which I have had trouble getting in the past.

I would be very interested in a double layer version of this belt, especially a coyote tan/woodland green combo. I assume they would be reversable?

I am still working on the double layer belt, and from my calculations it would be reversible but you would have to reverse the direction in which you feed it through your pants.

The hold up on the double layer belt is that it is labor intensive, I pay about $1.00 a minute to have these currectly sewn, so I have been seeking another sewing vendor to try out the double layer version.

I have seen similar double layer versions in the past and they were about $30.00, and I don't think I could actually beat their price, I wish I could but the math just doesn't work out. I will continue to work on it. The other issue is that the other double layer belts out there are bonded together odd, and no one seems to use a similar method for bonding. I don't want to half ass them, you know.

As for the Khaki smokejumper belt, they should arrive here on Monday and I expect to have the photos shot and them listed on both my ebay page as well as here.

thank you for everyones business and I am glad everyone is happy with their belts.

Understood. I can't wait for when you figure them out.
Also, is there a way I could buy a regular via a money order? I don't have the ebay or paypal..

Got my belts in today, and i'm very pleased.
Considering I ordered them on thursday, and got them in two days, well....yeah, I wish Kifaru could be half as efficient.
I had a slight concern with Paypal, but Kary was very quick to respond and we sorted my concerns immediately.
The webbing is high quality, the stitching looks really solid and clean, and the buckle itself feels like its gonna be almost bulletproof. For liability purposes I can see 2500lbs being a reasonable static weight limit, but ill bet you could swing a small car around your head with this buckle. I'd have no seconds thoughts rappeling out a window with full bunker gear and a SCBA on.
It won't win any gram weenie awards, but these belts are definately a solid investment.

I have two older non-rigger belts of somewhat lighter duty that don't fit me anymore, and a rigger style one that had to be retired because of a burn/fray. These four new belts will suit my needs for years to come. One for the GF, one for a dedicated light duty pack belt, an everyday use one and a back-up.

High quality product, with excellent customer service, at a very reasonable cost are very rare things these days. Thanks Kary.

Okay after a little reasearch and some quess work. I am pretty close to having a double layer belt. These have to be sewn by hand as opposed to the single layers which are sewn by computer. The guy who is going to sew these is currently out of the county but once he returns expect to see these in several different sizes, and in the following color combinations

Black with black buckle, black with silver buckle, coyote brown with black buckle, coyote brown with silver buckle and OD green with black buckle

They are double layer up until the part that passes through the buckle.

Not sure on the price per belt yet due to unknow sewing cost but I would expect less than 25.00 each, the price difference being due to them being sewn by hand.

These photos are of the coyote brown with silver buckle(the buckle I actually cut off some military surplus and polished it, to give you an idea of the life of the buckles, that buckle is vietnam era.

Let me know what you think?

thank you and I will keep everyone updated

Oh boy, that's what I envisioned. Any chance of velcro to hold the flap in place? Not because of slippage, just for the...um, flapiness factor.

Most likely no on the velcro, I usually tuck the flappy piece back under the buckle , it makes for a quick removal if I have pee bad. Velcro means more hand(non-computer but on a sewing machine) sewing means a higher price and I am trying to keep the price low. I like to make my profit by volume not per piece.

How did you like the color combination? I am debating on only doing the coyote brown with black buckles. I will have those in single layer next week availiable.

This one was made with a buckle off my helicopter (when I work as a flight medic) survival vest, which I modified and had a left over buckle.

I am working with a local sewing shop who did a bunch of escape belts for military contractors and some of the SEAL teams , he has excess belts laying in his shop and I may put them on here or ebay to help him out. His stuff is better than maxpedition he just usually does big contracts.

Another reason is the velcro tends to degrade after awhile on my upcoming airlock belt they are required to adjustment because the buckle clicks. This is the airlock belt, the clamps are for mocking up, because I am still testing the design.
These are highly sought after by wildland firefighter, the buckle was a seatbelt buckle from an older model douglas aircraft, the USFS used as a jump plane.

Quality is great, customer service is great, shipping is unbelievable!

Right now the only webbing I have left on the spool is the coyote brown, and I am out of buckles. plus the guy who is doing the sewing is out of the country.

I can just write your order down and save it , till I get restocked

What color combo would you like? Just so I can get an idea of my next order of stuff.

Hey Kary,

Do you know if your new double layer belts would be sturdy enough to use as a pistol belt (would hold pistol/holster/mags/small flashlight)?
I really like what I've read about your belts (especially the "Quality ~ Price" ratio) and I'm in need of a new pistol belt anyways.

Any info is greatly appreciated :)

I am not truely sure, because I don't wear a pistol. They aren't not as stiff as a police duty belt, like the double layer nylon ones that are lined with velcro. I now I am not the only one selling the double layer style, and they are marketed toward for that purpose. Mine are lower in cost like you know. I think some would depend on which style holster you are using. Is it the style that clips directly to the belt or the kind the main attachment is to the thigh. I just hate to make a claim that it will, but for the thigh rig style I believe it would work, but just unsure of the belt mounted holster.

I hope that kind of answered your questions, but I know of several large companies marketing the same belt for this purpose but mainly to military.

Now, I only have the single layer belt, but after folding it over on itself Im still going to say no.

Most of the double stitched web belts sold for gunbelts (like The Wilderness Instructor belts or the 5.11 belts) have a layer of flexible plastic between the layers of webbing that does a LOT to stiffen the things up.

With a pistol plus mags plus a light on there, I think having the plastic in the belt is mandatory.

Also, Kary: I love my brown belt with the silver buckle. the color is great.
