G1 Megatron NIB

Post by GhettoSniper » Sun Jan 11, 2009 2:46 pm

Figured theres gotta be more Transformers nerds than just me in here.. Looking to sell this G1 Megatron.
It's like going back to Gold Circle in 1984 and getting one off the shelf.

Box has been opened to verify that it is not a remake, and the styrofoam by the gun broke. It's still there, I just left it loose instead of trying to hide it by glueing it back together or whatever..

This guy comes with all the stickers, sheets, red decoder lens, etc....

He's never even been transformed from what I can tell.

Looking to get 600 bucks on this one..

More pics on request

**cadillaclowrider is my ebay name.. tried selling it on there a few times but they kept canceling my auction because of their firearms policy.

Good luck. ETA- thats a lot of money. Is that the going rate for them, or what?

I know all of my old GI Joe and Transformers met their maker when I got a pellet gun for christmas one year.

Is this item in compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008? If it hasn't been tested for lead and phthalates by an independent lab it will have to be properly disposed of since it is intended for use by children under the age of twelve.

Not enough of them are on the market to really gauge it's value..

One with a nicer box than mine sold on ebay a week ago for 875.00. Ya, its a crapload of money..

Heck, a certified one sold for almost 1800 bucks not long ago..

It's hard to imagine paying real gun money for a toy gun that turns into a robot...but, they aint making these anymore so nerds like me pay good money for them. I'd relist it on ebay but I kinda hate giving them any of my money..

BTW: I didnt take your first response as dicky... my skin is much thicker than that :)

Wow, dude. That is a shitload of money.
Are there any boards/websites dedicated to the sale and purchase of this kind of stuff? I'm just saying, that may be a better place to try to get the money that something like this would be worth.

Why don't you just refuse to post pics on ebay? Then they couldn't remove it upon inspection.

Nope

I think I'll go with the real guns over that one. I do want it, I just can't get my head around the fact that I can't kill anyone with it.

I just found my old "Thrust" figure from 1985 . . . anybody want to buy it? No box, and I'm not sure the nose wheel and missile launcher are there.

 Well played.

Is it wrong that my jaw dropped and I started to drool a little when I scrolled down and saw that it was an original P38 Megatron?

Thanks, but I have one already. :)

The price fluctuates wildly on these based on the popularity of TF. Over the last 15 years I've seen them on Ebay for as high as $1000 and as low as $250. I say, get as much as you can get for it... but from the Ebay market, $200-$300 looks more realistic right now. I didn't find the one for $875 in completed listings, but did find several under $300 (and not all sold). Still, never hurts to ask, so I'd probably start at $500-$600 and work down if it doesn't sell.

Ya, it is crazy how they seem to bounce around.

The good news is, is it's not costing me anything to keep it

Thanks for the info

That's a good point, I'd for sure wait until the next movie is released (summer '09?) and then Ebay it with a high BIN price and a medium reserve.

I unloaded a mixed box of triples when the last film came out and got about 4x the price I expected and had a ridiculous amount of interest, considering they were all loose and all damaged (they really were my scraps).

I'm pretty much done collecting, it kind of petered out for me in the 90's, but just kept everything in big tupperware cases. I'm toying with selling off everything but my top 10 pieces (my originals from when I was a kid). On the other hand, I'm kind of lazy sometimes, so I'll probably just keep them in storage. :)

I've bought and sold a lot of collectibles on eBay. There are two techniques I use to gauge the value of what I'm buying or selling. First, I use the eBay search, making sure to select the Search Completed Listings option. After a cursory search, I'm not finding much.

I also use http://www.mpire.com to perform similar searches with some success. You might also consider searching Amazon.com and using the New and Used from option (I've found some very rare hardcover graphic novels that way).

Last, you might consider checking in toy collector magazines such as ToyFare magazine.

Best of luck,
