Kyle,
Thank you for your recent support of Direct Relief International and JACL’s Japan Relief and Recovery Fund through your efforts with Zombie Squad. When the recent earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, Direct Relief’s emergency-response team mobilized quickly. Within hours of the tragedy, we were developing a plan to help people, coordinating with local relief organizations in Japan, and activating the network of partnerships that help bring needed resources efficiently to where they are needed most.
With your help, we have already distributed $1.4 million in financial aid to Japanese nonprofit groups that are focused on helping the most vulnerable people affected by the earthquake and tsunami. You can read more about our ongoing efforts at http://www.directrelief.org/EmergencyRe ... unami.aspx .
Thankfully, contributions from the public for Japan enabled this rapid response, and 100% of all the contributions to the Japan Relief and Recovery Fund are dedicated only for that purpose.
Direct Relief’s ability to respond fast and efficiently in Japan, as it does throughout the United States and the world, is only because we conduct our humanitarian assistance program every day – usually in places that do not make the news, but are deeply compelling. General support allows us to prepare for future emergencies and respond to current domestic and international health issues as well as support our four key focus areas:- Ensuring safe delivery and healthier lives for mothers and babies
- Preventing and treating diseases such as HIV/Aids and diabetes
- Strengthening under-resources health systems
- Emergency preparedness and response to domestic and international disasters
Our goal is to provide the most efficient and effective response to emergencies, as well as provide ongoing, essential support in healthcare work that saves and improves lives. Your support is helping us reach that goal.
If you are ever in the Santa Barbara area, I would love to give you a tour of our headquarters and warehouse distribution center. Feel free to contact me by phone or email.
Again, many thanks for your support.
With gratitude,
