Hopefully your logistics just got temporarily screwed up, and it's not an actual shortage... I have no idea how these things work. I'm just surprised that an armed, stationed, force would run so low on ammo! I assume it's a "no no" to ship ammo overseas?

It's a little bit of both...9mm isn't something that is used a lot, since it's just for special purpose weapons like M9's and various submachineguns...So not many people use it. Thus, there's not a bunch of big bins of it lying around, like with 5.56 and 7.62.

We're in a bit of a jam because we're MP's(So all of us have M9's), and there was some confusion over the amount of ammo we'd need, and the amount of ammo we'd be inheriting from the unit we were replacing, and we ended up with a shortage.

And, like anything else in the military, it's probably something that could easily be fixed by some DA or DD form and a signature or two at the company level, but...It's the Army, and people are lazy, or don't deem it as necessary.

And, it's not like the shortage is 'So-and-so has no ammo', it's more like 7 out of 10 people may have a full 45 rounds, but the other three may only have 30 or 35, in addition to their full combat load for their individual weapon (M4, M16, M249).

As for ME wasting ammo recreationally shooting...It's rounds I picked up at the clearing barrel, left on the ground by others after they ejected, so they'd have gotten discarded, lost, or destroyed, anyway.

I'd like to see donations to a charity that is more prep-oriented, and though it may be a stretch to say HFH is, I think it's still a bit in the realm. The Radio operators obviously so, but I think that's a bit specialist for a general charity drive :D My vote was for HfH, and I hope I win (though doubtful) an event or two, so I can tip the scales more! lol

I need a ruling.
On the pistol shoot it says no scopes, does this include or exclude red dots?
Its a zero magnification. Is that the main objective of the rule?
Like red dots w/zero mag allowed, but any magnifide optic is out?

Yay, Adopt a Pet is in 2nd place now!

I'm surprised you're not getting more participation in this... any ideas on how to drive that, that ZS would also be okay with?

For this match, consider "scope" as meaning Telescopic sight (magnification). You are welcome to use a red dot without magnification.

That's strange. I've been getting lots of emails to charity@zombiehunters.org so I know it's working. I received emails to it today. Can you please forward the bounced message you recieved? send it to zombiesquad@gmail.com I would really appreciate it. It'll help me track down the cause of why it bounced and see if there is a problem with the email provider.

Thanks!

Well, I just mailed my targets off to ZS. 9mm luger pistol probably won't win, but the 12 gauge is going to give you all a run for your money! Go pet adoption! All money raised for Team Pets will be eaten by Loki... my german shepherd.

Not sure if I'll actually be able to get my targets for the 100 yard rifle done in time, but I sent my $30 in today either way.

Shot my targets, will be getting them in the mail monday.

I've done better with my handgun, but it wasn't bad.

I was very impressed with myself and my 870 express and the slugs. When shooting, all I have is a bead site, and the damned bead took up like the first 3-4 rings, it seemed like, haha... but using rifled slugs in a smooth barrel, I managed to get very tight groups after I got comfortable shooting those slugs... they -do- kick a bit harder than skeet/trap loads!!

Yes we did. It was about 40F and raining pretty good. We took turns shooting and spotting for each other. Good teamwork and a good time!

Will get the targets in the mail this week (after they dry out :? ).

I would hope that the main objective is to see who knows how to use iron sights on pistols.

My search fu is weak.

Is there anywhere we're posting our results? I scanned in my 4 targets, and figured I'd toss the images up. Nothing grand, but maybe it'll encourage people to participate, or laugh at me. :D

Oh yeah. Here you go: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=57192&p=1201186#p1201186

I'll get a link to it in the original post.

However, PLEASE NOTE that targets MUST be mailed it for this drive. They can't be posted on this forum for entry.

Sorry, I lied. We had a problem with the host screwing up our database again so that was a priority (see thread in "Ask ZS"). I'll get it updated tonight.

Forgot to mention that I did an update on the stats last night:
http://zombiehunters.org/charity2009.php#Stats

I'll get them updated again this weekend.

Don't forget to get those targets in!

You can show them off here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=57192&p=1201186#p1201186
but keep in mind that they must be mailed in to qualify for the match!

Not much activity with the drive so I haven't put up an update until today.

We still have a month left of the drive but so far this the least we've raised for a dog-tag charity so far. Not a big surprise with everything going on right now. I think everyone is being a little tighter with their money.

Stats up: http://zombiehunters.org/charity2009.php#Stats

Red Cross is winning by a land slide so far!
