I've received about a dozen emails about the shooting stance because I failed to specify that detail of the rules.

The shooting position is open so bench or standing is fine. We're leaving this first match pretty open since it's just for fun and for charity.

Depending on the outcome of this match, we may tighten up the rules or make other changes.

I'll add this to the FAQ. http://zombiehunters.org/charity2009.php#FAQ

Also, I'll get the stats updated later today.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the latest stats are up:
http://zombiehunters.org/charity2009.php#Stats

03-Jan-2009 at 12:00 PM CST
Amount Raised: $1080.00

Number of Donors: 33

Operation Food Search 6
American Red Cross 21
American Radio Relay League 13
Adopt a Pet 8
American Cancer Society 6
Habitat for Humanity 14
Americorps 0
Save the Children 8
Susan G Komen Foundation 6
Toys for Tots 11

Looks like Red Cross is in the lead so far. However, until those shooting scores start to come in, it's still all up in the air.

Oh, if any of you who are more artistically inclined wish to put together a banner for the guys on the forum who donated, that would be swell.

Here is what the banners look like. They will need to be this dimension, roughly 150px × 20px

Habitat for Humanity! Though I would not mind one bit if the Red Cross got some more funds.

I'd like to see donations to a charity that is more prep-oriented, and though it may be a stretch to say HFH is, I think it's still a bit in the realm. The Radio operators obviously so, but I think that's a bit specialist for a general charity drive :D My vote was for HfH, and I hope I win (though doubtful) an event or two, so I can tip the scales more! lol

I like the Red Cross, just don't like what they spend some of their money on. Was a hard choice overall but I liked what I read from the adopt a animal site.

Sent my shoot in today, be interested to see how it stacked, also made a thread in the Firearms forums for peeps to post their results if they so desire.

Just got word yesterday that the FL ZS chapter has been green-lighted. There will be a signing party this weekend at The Highwayman's compound, to sign the official agreement. While there, several of us will also be shooting the postal match, at my private range (ie-my backyard ; P)

They've been up since the Charity drive was announced last month.

Not a big deal though! As long as it's on 8.5x11 paper the judges can line them up and calculate your score.

I'm in. Now just need a decent weekend to get to the range. Barring that, an opportunity to play hookie and go during the week.

If you don't shoot the match are you still eligible to receive the dog tags?

I'd love to participate in this, but I'm deployed.

We have a range on our FOB, and we're even slated to use it soon, but it's only a 25 meter range, and the only category I'd be able to shoot in is pistol. Downside is, we're ridiculously short on 9mm, with some of us not even having a full combat load...I have some spare rounds I've scavenged, but it's still up in the air as to whether or not I'd be able to shoot - making sure everyone has a full combat load of 9mm would obviously take priority over me, essentially, shooting recreationally.

Any way at all the rules could be amended/added/changed, for a 25m service/centerfire rifle, standing shoot, or something?

Unfortunately, since we're already in the middle and 50+ people have already registered under the current rules we wont' be able to change them. Please feel free to drop me an email when you get a chance (postalmatch@zombiehunters.org) with your suggestion for a match and we can possibly have it as a category the next postal match if enough people are interested.

Thanks for your service.

Stop wasting ammo on recreational shooting! :)

Yes - assuming you donated $30 or more to the drive, as it states in the instructions.

Thanks for the support, guys! We're doing well. I'll get another status update tonight. I saw a few dozen new donations come through last night.

Kind of makes me feel like a tool and/or shake my head for having a bunch of boxes of 9mm in my safe, and seeing so many on the shelves every time I go to the store.

Hopefully your logistics just got temporarily screwed up, and it's not an actual shortage... I have no idea how these things work. I'm just surprised that an armed, stationed, force would run so low on ammo! I assume it's a "no no" to ship ammo overseas?

When should I expect my cool ZS Schwag to arrive on my doorstep?

Won't be able to make it to the shoot because MY WIFE WON'T LET ME, but I donated anyways. They're all good charities and deserve everybody's help. Have fun at the shoot!

Sckitzo, thanks for pointing that out.

I have a question Kyle. Thanks to Necrodamus, I've got about 200 of the old "zombie head" postal match targets that we never used, since there was a flash flood on the mountain at the last SE ZS Camp and Shoot. I've already got about 5 or 6 folks coming over this weekend to shoot the match; is it going to be a major pain to score the old ones? If so, I'll just have to play nice with the missus and borrow her printer for 15 minutes or so...(: P)
