A couple of days of wrenching on my truck and Badlands BOT thread got me thinking, not about our BOV's per say but rather how we are planning on keeping them running. For instance i know of many on and off this forum who say I have tools for working on and maintaining my BOV but i don't feel enough has been said about how. We are used to saying ok i need an oil change let me go get my oil and filter from the parts store and do it. But what about the SHTF scenario where we cant afford to be without transpo. What about centrifugal oil filters to eliminate how often our conventional filters need to be changed, what about switching to cartridge instead of canister filters for less occupied space. What about our on board air compressor strong enough to power our tools for these situations, and what about thinking wither quieter hand tools might be best in a given situation or if the speed of pneumatic is more beneficial. We should be thinking about setting up our BOT with the same axles and tires as our BOV so that if one endures a catastrophic break we might scavenge the remainder for our repair and spares and keep on trucking. This is just my rant to get us more in the combat mindset. Let me know what y'all think.
Complacency kills.
