Are those supposed to be OPFOR? The differing models of trucks, along with the "I bought APCs from Brezhnev and all I got was this lousy desert-stripe paintjob" would indicate so...

Or did I just miss the joke.

Definatly OPFOR. 113 gussied up to look like a Soviet era APC, differnt kinds of trucks with haphazard mounts and whatnot. Desert looks like California area. It adds up to be a bunch of guys playing the part of "bad guys" in Technicals.

That's what I figured, too. Opfor at NTC used civilian vehicles back in the day. No reason they wouldn't rig up technicals for training.

S'all good. I tw'eren't being bitchy btw...just haven't had the opportunity to say "O RLY" for a while.

Google found me another article... it says here http://www.army.mil/article/29830/ that they're 11th Armoured Cav Regt and that what we're looking at was a Force on Force for qualification at the National Training Centre.

Anybody know what those Hilux/Tacoma/Navara dealios are in the last two (non Australian post) pics I posted?

Source was Czech but the gear looks very U.S .mil.

Which picture are you looking at? Some of those were in theater the one I was looking at had a gussied up 113 APC and lots of blank firing adapters.

Tetra that's a neat article. I'd like to be with that unit

I was looking at the one with the canal. I have been to NTC six times. If they have a canal it is pretty well hidden.

We're looking at two different pics. I agree the canal and mountains in background with snow pics are not at Irwin.

This is the one I was speaking of
