I gotta say, those pictures are awesome... I've been following this for a while now and like your build a lot. I have one question though...

How the hell did that guy get a HEMTT? When I was in the army I was assigned an M984 HEMTT Wrecker. I LOVED that thing, there was literally nothing it couldn't do when you knew how to make that truck work the way it was supposed to. I never once got it stuck - from the mud in the tank trails on Ft. Hood to the powder sand in Iraq. I've pulled HET tractors out of the sand that had full loads and it never once let me down. When there's no operator for an M1 tank, it had to stay on the trailer and the same goes for the armored D9's that the truck drivers would get stuck frequently with when they were hauling 'em. Always popped them right back out of the holes they made and got them back on their way. Sometimes I'd be going down the road with a GVW of right around 275,000 lbs lol... It wouldn't go very fast, but it'd sure as hell go. That thing was a BEAST.

I always thought to myself, they can keep my M16, a Ma Duece would be too expensive to feed, but I'd love to take that wrecker with me. The only thing badder than the HEMMTT Wrecker when it came to this stuff was the M88 Hercules.

my buddy with the HEMTT he bought it from a guy who got it as salvage. its been fully restored. just in the last year about 5-8 have gone to auction. about 4 of them were the 10x10 PLS systems. check out govliquidation.com every once in awhile they will do a sale on a hemtt just have to keep your eyes out.

Suckers are getting hard to find. I passed in one a whole back (needed a lot of work) to wait for a better one, and they have dried up fast!

When looking at your pics I noticed you have the aftermarket fiberglass top (looks great!)....I have the metal OEM top but I should have swapped the tops when I trade my last M109A3 for the nicer M109A3 I currently have...but I wanted to know what is up with your windshield? It looks totally different from OEM. Are the windows sealed so they don't push out from the bottom like they normally do for ventilation?

the windshield is apart of the fiberglass setup. it doesnt fold out and they were poorly fitted. im going to be modifying my top to fit the OEM windsheild. should be doing it soon. but who knows

Added a pivot crane to the back of the truck I can remove the arm and store it in the front of bed or underneath not to sure yet. Buddy and I tested it by pulling up the nose of a the 105 camper even with the rear support leg down hahahah. still need to shorten in by maybe 5 in and maybe add some more support.

also added another jerry can mount next to the previous one and toolbox. added a strap to the spare tire carrier for better support. and some more tool holders. so now a huge bolt cutter, breaker bar, and sledge hammer.

Looking at the way your hitch is designed, I don't think it will be able to handle more than 500 lbs tongue weight. And maybe no more that 2,000 lbs total load. Unless you beef it up with some more steel at a 45 deg angle.

Agreed, i would probably add a 1/2 thick 2"-3" gusset personally

there are gussets in place. and i may do some steel to some frame behind it as well. should hold strong. a guy towed over 10k with this setup. im not going to be towing that much. hopefully mounting it tonight!

added side ally lights. 100w 24v bulbs. need to order more as I used my last 2 i had bought awhile ago. same lights as my backups and i plan on hooking them up to the same toggle as the backup lights



also for the bed of my truck trying to figure out where to mount 1 more fuel can. and then mounting a taller ammo can that holds all my straps. I may be able to fit it in the toolbox. havent tested it.

was going to work on the chock holder but decided the garage needed cleaned more then that hahah.

Those seats you installed look great. Did they give you any more leg room? If you don't mind could you tell me where you got them and what they cost? I would like to install those in my M109A3.

Yea you can have a ton more adjustment in the seats giving more leg room. and sorry to say I got these off of a guy on craigslist so not sure where else to get them.
