89 YJ, nothing too special just a lot of little personal modifications.
Main thing is I removed the back seat and put a box full of gear in it.

And a ham radio

2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

Stock 4.0L motor, stock auto trans, 5:1 Advance Adapters Atlas 2 t-case
6" Full-Traction Long Arm Suspension kit (soon to be coilovers all around)
1" body lift (except under the grille for better visibility)
Dynatrac Pro-Rock D60 front axle (narrowed to 67") with 5.38s and a Detroit locker
Ford D60 full-float rear axle (stock 66") with 5.38s and a Detroit locker
BFG Krawlers (37x12.5x17) on Trailready 17x8 Aluminum Beadlocks
PSC Hydro Assist Steering
One-piece fiberglass hood (with flames we painted)
Currie stubby front bumper with a Warn 9k winch and 125ft of Viking Offroad synthetic line
Currie rear bumper
Poison Spyder rocker guards with tubes added by me
Poison Spyder steel door skins
Cutting brake, CB, lockable storage, etc.

It pretty much goes anywhere I want as long as I feed it.

Also pictured is my 1968 Army M-416 1/4 ton trailer that can be filled with any number of goodies. I've got new shocks and bearings for it, but I haven't gotten around to installing them yet. All I've done is rewire it with new 12v taillights and clean it up.

I like pretty Jeeps, but I love used ones more! Finally had to get mine running again. $600 later and the Mechanic has the wires repaired. God I missed how this thing handled! I love it.

I'll post some more pic soon.

Okay, I'll play along.
Image

'98 Wrangler. Only done some mild offroading at a huge airsoft match (200+ people). On the way back from that 2 day game, I passed out and did some more hardcore offroading.

Image

So hardcore, I almost totaled it. Not quite enough though, so now I have a Wrangler that works, but is kinda hinky, and the radio wont turn on.

I want an International Scout or a Jeep Cherokee next.

I've been wanting a Wrangler or similar Jeep for a while now. How's the reliability?

My 2008 Wrangler X. Still stock... for now. I plan on getting some bumper guards, skid plates, and a CB this year and then focusing on getting it paid off.

Some of the terrain I tried this weekend while snow camping at Cinder hills. It was ridiculously easy in 4x4.

I've been looking for a used Wrangler and noticed that almost everybody (even on craigslist) is trying to sell them several thousand above blue book. Why is that?

Because they don't know the blue book, probably. Although Jeeps are known for resale value. If you see one you like, make a blue-book offer and let them know that's the BB value.

It's a Jeep. There is a reason they call 'em "Jeep Trails" not just "4x4 trails". Wranglers are almost as good as XJs.

Don't know if it is true, but a die hard Jeep builder (who I have no reason to doubt) told me to hang onto my '95 Wrangler because the Wrangler will be going out of production very soon (years?) and the prices on Jeep Wanglers will jump. As said, I haven't confirmed this, but could explain the higher prices.

Nope, in fact they'll be redesigning the whole platform and possibly adding a Diesel engine as an option in the next few years. They will for a fact be adding a new V6 Pentastar engine to replace the new crap V6 in there now.

As to the price, Jeeps just hold a high resale value. KBB is not acurate when it comes to vehicles like Jeeps. The people that own and work on them value them far more than Mr Kelly. The parts also sell at a premium.

Would it be better to buy an older model with lower miles or a new model with more miles? I'm assuming the same sale price. I'm looking for something under 5-6k
