I went to the doctor with persistent wrist pain about 8 weeks ago. They took X-rays only to confirm no fracture. The doctor immediately said tendinitis although I do not overuse my left wrist. I was in occupational therapy for about 6 weeks with absolutely no relief. I am now scheduled next week for an MRI because he suspects a ganglion cyst. A ganglion cyst and a cyst are the same thing. My mother had a cyst in her wrist and had it surgically removed but unfortunately it grew back. Wondering if this is what I also have. Your doctor probably just guessed at the diagnosis of tendinitis because that's easiest to treat with therapy.

What’s the difference between these cysts and lipomas?
