Back OT, I think for now let's just get a date set. Location can be much more flexible than schedules. Also, let's stick to the metro for the time being. Expansion, etc. can be discussed at that meeting, or a later one.

Sat 10 Dec 2011 : Metro area Coffee, Meet n Greet. Who's in?

If I read correctly (and it's early, so maybe not) I think we have 4 yes, and 1 maybe?

How would 10-1030 that morning suit everyone?

That's my thought. Unless someone has other ideas, I say meet for coffee first, get some details and such hammered out, plan the next meeting, etc.
Should we say 10am on the 10th? Should be easy to remember that way.

Now we just need to find a location. My vote goes to Maple Grove, Roseville/Maplewood, or MOA (in no particular order). Any thoughts?

So it sounds like we have:

cmxterra
Sāj

and possibly

Mall of America it is then. Probably the best choice in case any out-of-town folk want to stop by. MOA is pretty easy to find since it's right off of 494.

Mall of America at 10am on the 10th.

Should probably pick a place to meet inside. i.e. the Rotunda on the 1st floor, Best Buy on the third, or outside any of the Big Four stores.... Something big and hard to miss...

ETA: apparently there's a Caribou right across from Norstroms on the first floor. That is, if Coffee is still the game plan....

Well do we want to meet inside the mall or do we want to find a coffee place outside of the mall? A place outside the mall will probably be quieter.

I'm good either way. I just figured inside, so that anyone not familiar with the area won't feel overwhelmed trying to find it (MOA is damn-near impossible to miss). But quieter is probably better... just my .02

Plus I am also thinking that we will probably run into some odd ducks/easily offended people when you have the traffic flow of the mall and they might freak out if they over hear a group of people discussing survival prep. Sadly some people freak out if they think their peachy suburban life could ever possibly not be so peachy.

Would love to be there guys , but there is no way this will work for me .

A Friday at a gigantic mall , during the middle of Christmas shopping season . You guys are nuts . Should be a good test of your survival skills however .

Shit. Forgot all about that holiday shopping nonsense........

Google maps seems to tell me there is a Caribou in Eagan. It's on 55, but is really close to 494 and 35E (should also be easy to find)

Any objections/better options?

Yes it will suck dealing with all the people out and about but it's rather now or wait another month later.

Exactly...

So, inside the MOA (easy to find but crowded), or somewhere else in the area? I have a feeling that most coffee shops in the area would be busy too, just because of proximity to the mall. But I'm not much picky, now that we have a D&T set... :)
