By the way, Biggin, if you're coming, do you want any tasty canadian treats or souveneirs in exchange for some authentic Louisiana Hot Sauces?

Oh I am coming. I already paid so I am coming for sure.

I can get you a bunch of LA hot sauces. You want anything in particular? Tabasco, crystal, Louisiana Hot Sauce?

Oh and lets not forget Tony's Chachere's and Slap Ya Momma.

I think I'll bring an assortment of my favored Louisianan goods for barter.

Anyone here ever hear of Tabasco? New Iberia is just down the road from me

Tabasco, Franks red hot, that sort of thing is available everywhere. What I'm interested in is sauces produced and distributed locally. The hotter the better. Anything distinctly Louisiana. Also be interested in a stuffed crawfish. (Like stuffed animal toy, not taxidermy) if that's the sort of tourist souveneir available.

Yea, I was joking about Tabasco. That's everywhere. I dunno about the very very very hot stuff - not my bag. I'll see what I can dig up in regards to souvenir type deals too, before I get up there. I'm sure between biggin and me we can come up with something desirable *adds another line to the ZCon shopping list*

I'm willing to trade niagara falls souveneirs if someone wants some, just let me know. I'm also planning on bringing Canadian Coca Cola, butter tarts, and Bovril, and maybe even some of the awesome pepperettes. Those are always a huge hit. Unfortunately we no longer have an in at the factory that makes them, but I can still get them, albeit a little more expensively. I think I might even bring some real maple syrup to give out as a prize but i dunno.

I'm not much of a souvenir lover, but I'd totally try out a regional specialty of which those Cokes sound interesting :) I might hit you up for it if I end up bringing some Louisiana goods.

I might see about bringing some Louisana meats of some kind, since I'm gonna be lugging a cooler, and make some skewers one night.

Interesting regional things are one of my favourite parts of zcon.

I can't stop thinking about this trip and it's still so far away! I just ordered a bunch of mountain house stuff that I plan on eating while at zcon. I'm trying to pack as light as possible so I can get everything up to camp in one trip.

From what everyone I talked to is saying (which is on IRC, so should be the same people as you) taking a daily trip to the vehicle is the norm. Packing light doesnt need to apply to food, in that case.

Not everyone does that. Some actually rough it and bring all their stuff.

I've done both minimalist camping and some years I toss a cooler in my truck for "restocking". I think this year I'm going to go very minimalist. I haven't done that in a few years.

Ah, well in that case.... I still might pack light, haha. I might have some clothes in the car and maybe extra drinks or an ice chest devoted to.... ice.... in the bed.

I don't wanna be miserable because I brought too little, but I also don't want to be making 10 trips to the car when it's time to leave. I want it to feel like camping, not sleeping in the back yard (like im about to do tonight :T )

I want to feel like I'm camping so I'll be on the rougher side but not like a tarp and a knife rough.

1 bag and an ice cheat rough

Oh and a little folding chair.

Some people will be testing their suvival mettle. The canadians will be on vacation. A daily trip to Wal-mart for steaks and beer is normal for us.

Plenty. So, far only a few dozen have signed up and paid.

People like to wait until the last minute every year. I was hoping the tier pricing system would encourage people to register earlier but that doesn't seem to be the case. In the past, most people register between the end of April and end of May.

As a guesture of goodwill towards my fellow ZCon attendees I'll be camping in my vehicle. I don't so much snore as attempt to inhale my face. While this is entertaining when first encountered, I think it will be better this way for everyone concerned.

EtA: This will allow me to act as a pack mule for those who wants stuff from their vehicle first thing in the morning as well.

Quiet! I was going to have him bring me "a couple of ammo cans from the back of my Jeep" which, upon arrival, I was going to dump out on the ground in front of him, to show him that they were just full of sand.
