I believe I can make this event too. I started LVN/LPN school here at ft sam and have weekends off most the time. But I have no camping gear at all. I can see what the PXtra has and shop a bit. I could always use my issued poncho as a tent though. I am MOSQ as 68w Medic now if that helps at all. No aid bag right now though cause LPN doesn't need one.
:cry: I miss it.

Are we going to have hands on classes? I see some in the thread but they are older. Just seeing if they are still happening. Would be cool to learn a a lot out here and I like to get all the training I can.

That would be great if you could make this event. I hear that RCWALLA is very knowledgeable of bushcraft and so is Ghostwolf. So, maybe we can ask them to give the group some instruction in those areas. If you need a ride, you could catch one with me if you would like. As for camping gear, I am sort of in the same situation as you are. I bought a few items from Jester, namely ALICE pack, etc. Last time, I borrowed a tent from Karnedge. I am sure that there are others going who could lend you some or most of the items that you would need. Also, you could check out the base recreation center. They usually have a place where you can checkout camping equipment. In fact, I am going to check on that myself on Lackland. I would not recommend using a Poncho as a tent -- that could be a miserable experience...bugs,etc. Did they issue you a pack or anything?

Do you have enough wood, so we can cook a pig in the ground?

I would says the Bikinis. Its right off the highway. The foods OK, they have beer, and a lot of nice girls trying to earn money for college. It is a restaruant and not a strip club(which isn't a bad idea either).

No kidding. I am a little shocked myself. But, fishing, massive amounts of beer, and cool lake water bekon me.

I propose we meet in my bedroom. You all will serve me breakfast in bed and then sit on the floor while we watch the Tivo.

Wow, this sounds really nice! But lets explore others options.

Has anybody been here?

http://www.grinsrestaurant.com/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have never been there before but the menu prices look affordable and the restaurant seems to have a nice atmosphere.

Well, what do you think?

Even though I prefer to have my food served by scantily clad women, I'll go where ever. Why don't we just pick Grins and be done with it. The place isn't as important as the company.

I second the second of my earlier motion -- aye! Slams the gavel and ends all speculation....
