Could someone post the benefits and negatives of doing the event at either site like ....
Perdenales - been there....know what to expect...they accept credit/debit cards, but primitive camping might not
appeal to the widest group of people
Oxford -- can make fires (ugh, we like fires) , but only accepts cash...

I don't know anything about oxford other than what's on their site...

This will help everyone make an informed decision....

Oxford is only about 100 acres to roam around on, however Enchanted Rock is only about 6-7miles down the road. Oxford has water, showers and bathrooms at the front of the property. It is drive up camping so people with physical impairments can camp no problem. There are no Park Rangers to gripe or complain about what you are doing wrong. Rules are very "loose" there, just don't kill anything or anybody or shoot up the place since they do have livestock on site. Firearms and alchohol are not forbidden but please no shooting unless your life depends on it(AIDS infected monkey attack, etc). No limitations on where you pitch camp or have a fire but you do need to bring your own fire wood DUBBYA. The onsite cafe is no longer open so bring what you want to eat and drink. The wife and I hold two large gatherings there every year and the people that run the place are great to deal with. Also, camping will cost less than half what it is at Pedernales Falls. If there are any questions you can think of just ask and I will answer best I can.

B: I fear this young Texan is off to school in wild lands of the north, Boston. I'll be gone for the fall semester, then finish out the year via extension school. If any crazy shit goes down, Immabe buggin' southwards.

My vote is for Oxford, you can crank up the awesomeness by trying to summon spirits atop Enchanted Rock (that place be haunted). Be sure to have a chainsaw and coach gun on hand, cuz we all know how such things turn out.

hahaha, I was getting all defensive. I will get back to you on that hole size, its not going to be that big. We could probably dig ourselves, since we are driving up to the site.

I just got off the phone with RC Wallace and he is gonna do his best to make it to the bugout but has to check his work schedule. If he makes it he will teach primitive fire skills. He is a wealth of knowledge and I'm sure we will all come away with a new skill if he makes it.

Glitch... Get in touch with the wife on reservations and pricing at Oxford. She already talked briefly to the owner and they are happy to have us.

I verified with Oxford Ranch Campground today.
Cost for tent camping for this event will be $6 per person, per night.

Oxford Ranch Campground is at 11380 S Hwy 16 ( on Hwy 16, between Llano and Fredericksburg).
There are facilities at the front of the property (bathrooms, showers, water).
We generally prefer the area by the back tank... take a right past the office and follow the drive down to just past the second right. Park in the obvious area next to the tree grove. The tank is past the tree line.
No need to check in at the office. Check in with me.

This is a private campground on private land. There is no shooting. Please dont kill or harass the cows. Respect the property. No illegal substances. Dont cut down trees.
