Don't forget your stove if you need to heat your food or make coffee. There are no fire rings in the primitive area.

"hike-in primitive campsites 2 mile minimum; no pets allowed; no groundfires; self contained fuel stoves only"

Read 'em and weep. That is a pretty good hump with a loaded pack in 90 deg. + weather, just FYI.

Call me conservative, but it may be better to camp at a drive up site and then just to some hiking. Specially since this is just a scouting trip. What are y'alls thoughts?

that just means you don't have to haul in the fire wood, the hike in to the sites is not that bad.

There is a spot along the way to stop and cool down with a small creek. I am about to turn 40 so no death march for me but a casual 2-3 mile hike in with pack won't be so bad.

I am starting to think that tubing at Guadalupe River Park and using those neat little tent pads may have been the better option....

Ah, FTW, I vote that Glitch or "Bug-Man" aka "Dog Show", since they're the least chronologically-challenged, get to carry Dubbya's "wood"

Who says this is a democracy? You will like our Prez that you and many other Central Texas shlepps did not vote for and you will not burn any of Dubbya's "wood" unless he tells you to. :P

Lets clear this up. Burning of my wood is a private matter and I thank you to stay out of my business. :P

You're off the hook Bug Show, there are no wood fires allowed at this trip.

If you have burning wood you might want to see a doctor about that.

Where is the trailhead at?

Also, is the one particular entrance that we are supposed to go through or many?
