Re: Central Texas Mock Bug-out Planning
ok guys i just spoke to the head ranger at the Guadalupe state park.
the primitive area is a small loop with about 10 sites, each site has a 16x16' tent pad, a fire ring, a grill, a table, and a water spigot within 50'
the park fills up real fast on weekends, they said that the sites are usually full by Saturday morning.
So, if you all still want to go there let me know otherwise i am voting Pedernales Falls state Park for the bug out and scout trip.
the only problem i have with the park is that "youth groups' tend to show up and take over the peace and quiet, but i called the park and they said there is no events going on this weekend and we would be the only ones in the area(except for walk-ins).
i have been there the park is much nicer and there is true primitive camping avalible(no tent pads and such)
now some of y'all planing to attend might not like this because it is a bit further than the other park was, and we might lose some people that were planing to attend.
i would prefer have it at a better park where people who would like to come can get in, rather then having it at a smaller park that fills up quickly that is a bit closer to SA.
So i say that we should go for Pedernales rather then Guadalupe.

Guys, if you just want to check out a piece of gear from our store before you decide to buy let me know and I will bring it if we have it in stock. This applies to the scout trip and the bugout.

Mosquito netting and insect repellent -- is anybody bringing it?
What sort of insect repellent works best around here. Back in the day, we'd spray Deet on our clothing, but that probably shortens your lifespan every time you do it.

Everything I have uses DEET. California says that Sweet & Low causes cancer in rodents.

Re: Central Texas Mock Bug-out Planning
So the scout trip will run Saturday(7th) morning to Sunday(8th) afternoon, the plan for this it is we will all meet at Pedernales falls state park Saturday morning (time not yet specified).
we all meet up then gear up and start the hike in to the primitive area.
once we get to the primitve area we will pick a camp site then get tents, hammocks, tarps, ect. set up and then we will decide what to do from there.
so here are the questions,
1. is everyone on the scout list still going.
(dubbya, 3Fingas, Ghostwolf, Kangamangis)
2. What time do you guys want to meet.
3. do you have all the gear you will need.
(3fingas i have you covered for a canteen, tent, and some food)
4. is there anything at Twowolvesoutdoor that you would like Ghostwolf to bring so you can see it before you buy.
5. Any questions.

Re: Central Texas Mock Bug-out Planning
I'm still in. Pretty sure I have everthing covered that I need. I will be bringing some extra gear that can be used, sold, or traded.
USGI canteen + cup + pouch and belt
Columbia Fleece
USGI Pup Tent
What ever else I can dig up.

Re: Central Texas Mock Bug-out Planning
Definitey coming to the scout trip. Probably will stay the night, but I still haven't decided yet. Originally was going to be just day-tripping, but with added mileage to camp site, it may make more sense just to overnight.Glitch20 wrote:So the scout trip will run Saturday(7th) morning to Sunday(8th) afternoon, the plan for this it is we will all meet at Pedernales falls state park Saturday morning (time not yet specified).

Ghostwolf, can you bring one of the Tactical Toiletry Bags? It looks like something I could use on business trips and camping as well. If I like it, I will order it online when I return from the bug-out practice. Thanks.

Mosquito netting? I looked for it on Ghostwolf's sight, but did not see it offered.
Glitch, the tent(s) you are lending to spamo and me, do they have "no-see-um" mesh, or do I need to get some
mosquito netting beforehand?

I'll be there. If we get there around 9:30 we could shoot the breeze in the parking lot until 3Fingas and Kangamangas get there no problem.

Hey guys,
I just got back from training in the mountains of camp bullis and read most the thread. I can't make the scout trip due to some dog and pony show I have that day. I would like to go on the big bug out. I hope my schedule let's me.
