Well, you could become an official member of ZS to start. Then you need to purchase a pitchfork and start rounding up all the crew from the Central region. Burgers and Beer for a Meet & Greet worked for the Houston Bunch

Chapter minimums aren't horribly bad, you just have to get it rolling.

If your coming to the Mock Bug Out in Nov at Bastrop State Park, you might be able to network there.

I am new at ZS so I was wondering if I might as a question about the chapter organization. I see the need to have groups in West Texas and Gulf Coast but I wonder if there shouldn't be a TEXAS group that everyone can be participate in. Then have special interest groups within that organization structure.

Texas Chapter
- West Texas Group
- North Texas Group (Not currently recognized/approved that I know about)
- Central Texas Group (Not currently recognized/approved that I know about)
- Gulf Coast Group
- East Texas Group (Not currently recognized/approved that I know about)

This would provide a more homogeneous organizing structure but still provide location based specialization and seperately this would provide better for people who move frequently (I have lived in each of these) and for people who live in areas that are not as organized or have a local ZS chapter.

This may already exist and I am not aware of such an organization. Again I am new so I may be smoking the crack pipe here.

Houston museums...lemme see...Natural Science, Art and Modern Art museums all down by Rice U, plus there's the interactive Children's Museum...and then there's NASA's Space Center Houston, sort of a tour of the place but with special interest draws (for example, the once a year gross out fest type of activities or the Pokemon get togethers)...
I, too cannot get on to the Houston area ZS14 to view. Too bad, it's all in my back yard.
I also live near Galveston...and by the water...
Wishing I could go to the Come See My Dead Person concert tonight in Clear Lake...Darn the luck having to work and all.
This being in a thriving social mecca is getting my conflicts on.

Chapters get set up where people are motivated to set them up. Hachi did the big leg work to get ZSC:014 rolling. Seems like, so far at least, that getting it going is the big hurdle. Once you have something running and people get to meet each other face to face, you start to have impromptu meets for beer, movies, shooting, etc.

Currently, I'd wager DFW or the lower Valley area would be the next TX chapter. There's enough active folks in both places - it is just a matter of getting it done. San Antonio might be next.

Central Texas is a bigger issue - lots of folks, but very spread out with a good dose of transients at UT/A&M/Baylor/Ft Hood/etc. That's the main reason I threw in with the Gulf Coast - you have to have people that will GET OFF THEIR ASS AND DO SOMETHING and not just post comments on a web site. ZS is about DOING much more than chatting.

The permissions in the ZSC:014 forum are still goofy - I've complained to Pete and told him he'd get his salary docked if he didn't get it fixed. But, since he's not getting paid, docking his salary isn't much of a threat. Until then, if you want in, PM me. You don't have to be local to the area - we have members from Canada and the UK.

There's also a ZS Facebook group for Texas if you're into to that. Go to http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=ho ... 5455499195 and join - be sure to tell me what your ZS handle is. Sigboy is the co-admin on the facebook group.

Ok, we have a D/FW area chapter in the works had organizational meeting today at Lake Arlington. If you are in North Texas and want to join a chapter then PM Arrowolf, she is the acting chapter president. We look forward to meeting and hearing from all you North TX folks. We talked about working or having some type of skill presented at each of the meetings.
