Zombie Con VI - 6/23/2010 - 6/27/2010

Postby kyle » Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:27 pm

Ever see the movie Meatballs? Sure you have. A bunch of kids reign havoc on a summer camp while Bill Murray acts crazy. Zany antics ensue and a moral lesson is learned before everyone heads home at the end.

Well, Zombie Con is a lot like that. Mostly. Instead of a summer camp with with cabins and a chow hall, we have a rocky hill with a 45 degree incline. Instead of a giant lake, we've got a swimming hole full of snakes. Our kids are full grown adults who can buy their own whiskey. We think Bill Murray showed up last year, but since the temperature hangs a few degrees above 100 the entire week - that could have just been sunstroke.

But yeah...it's just like Meatballs. You'll meat new people. You'll bond with them. You'll eat, hydrate, share a latrine, and watch bad movies with them. When it's all said and done, you'll cry a little when it's over.

Zombie Con features... http://zombiehunters.org/zombiecon/zombiecon2010.php (more details to be added in April when we have seminars nailed down)

So don't miss this chance to experience something most people don't get a chance to survive. Register today.

Here are some experiences from previous years: http://zombiehunters.org/services/zomcon.php

Who's the guy in orange talking on the radio? Looks like someone I know.

I'll be there this year once I get my ID number. :)

I'm wondering what river that is you float on and wether I'm allowed to bring my own canoe.

The guy on the radio is Doctor Jest here on the forum who lives out in Pennsylvania. He runs a ham radio presentation every year way up at the highest point of the property. He's also one of the forum moderators.

Yup. You are allowed to bring your own canoe. Lot's of people do every year. I brought mine a few years ago but last year I forgot to bring it with me. :)

I guess I should include that question on the application. We float down Big River. We get our canoes from Cherokee Landing.

Damnit, one of these years I -will- make it to this, but I'll be hitting up the Louisiana Camp and Shoot in July or whenever, and think that'll have to be my ZS satiation for the summer.

Next year, maybe I'll make it out. Irondale is not far from my old stomping grounds around Union, MO. I gotta meat some of my favorite crazies and have a blast.

I can't wait. Hopefully it won't still be snowing here in PA by then.

By the way, that shirt is red. It's one of ZS' "Red Brian" shirts.

I won't be there the whole time, but I will be there to bathe my ankle in the healing fluids of Manbath. Can't break a 3-year streak. Will provide Scotch to anyone willing to Sherpa my pack across the creek and up the hill.

I went to the annual family Easter event today. I was telling everyone how I'm going to the "property" this summer to attend Zombiecon. They first made fun of me for paying to go there until I explained what all is offered. Just when I thought I was the only one in the family interested in ZS my cousin said he considered going at one time, and that he worked along side a ZS guy with a distinctive mustache and long dark hair. I won't mention the name here but I would like to know what this guys user name is so we can PM him...

My cousin had nothing but good things to say. :)

That's Martini Devil.

He's not on here much but he's the guy responsible for the Zombie Squad Facebook page. I'll pass this post on to him.

I would love to attend but, alas, that is the busiest time of the year for me at work and I don't think my poor old truck could make the 10 hour drive.

But who knows? Perhaps next year... :(

Have fun to all those who can attend. Looks like a great time.

Huh. Let's see...losing about a gallon of blood to all the ticks that hang off my body like genital warts off a cheap whore, trying to calmly debate whether our river buddy is a harmless water snake or a deadly water moccasin, sweating so much in my tent that it's soaking wet inside despite the fact that the torrential rainstorms offer only a brief respite from the sweltering heat, crapping in a bucket surrounded by a privacy tarp that seems intended only to trap heat and smell, and of course the regular climb up the near-vertical rock face we're supposed to sleep on?

How could I NOT go?

(This is my way of saying that Steph and I are planning on attending.)

Hey you crazy cats, I won't be able to attend this year. I decided to go back to school for some crazy time sapping fine arts degree because I'm strange like that and unfortunately it'll be eating up my summer hours as well. However I do get to make crazy silver teeth necklaces so I guess the trade off is kind of worth it.

Anyways, good luck this year and hopefully I'll be able to trade shredded cheese for pepperoni sticks next year!

I have already submitted my vacation request at work and I think I kind of HAVE to go due to the fact that I plan on giving a Self-Defense Seminar and most likely running the Range Day operations. Wheee!
