For the Real South Tejas: The Rio Grande Valley

Postby SharkChild » Sun Aug 02, 2009 8:07 pm

People have getting South Texas confused. This is for People in the Rio Grande Valley. And others.
Lets see if we can get a range day or just meet up and bullshit. Hopefully I will get a membership to the Pharr range. But this will be in Late August or in September. After school starts. But I don't mind going to Brownsville.

sounds great, I've been meaning to finally go to the range by Olmitos. I'll be moving to Bville this week (finally found a ghetto ass apartment 1 block from UTB!) so once I'm all unpacked and done with homework and shit we should meet up.

range day is good, bullshit and dicking around even better.

I'll take this chance to ask, any of you know of good (or even semi shitty) surplus stores in the RGV? I normally go to the one in Harlingen, which has a lot of clothes, and some other junk, but half their shit is unmarked and the manager is never there, so there's a 2 week waiting period to learn the price of stuff. And also Green Beret in McAllen, which has a lot of goodies, but is a bit pricey if you ask me. Any suggestions?

Shit if we get enough people we can pitch in for gas and drive to Houston or another place with better stores, make it a nice one day road trip hahaha.

Green Beret is over priced if you ask me. It is expensive. Never been to the ones in Harlingen. Downtown McAllen has one or two shops that sell clothes but it has been a while since I have been. Do not take Lizard to a gunshow he has to touch everythng. Maybe we can get together and go to a gunshow or something? Chill out and bullshit.

Whats up people? I'm a fellow Browntownian and a UTB graduate. I'm down for a shoot day. Usually I go to Vinsons shooting range. Its between Los Fresnos and Port Isabel. There is also All American Shooting Range, but that one is indoors and hand guns only. It's closer but limitted. PM me

I are trying to get a get together. Hopefully late August or in September. What's the cost at Vinsons shooting range? What can we shoot handgun, rifles, shotguns? How far can we shoot?

Let try to set up something after August 31. So that I can buy my books, because I know I will piss away my money on a gun or something rather then books.

sorry it took me so long, I'm 98% done moving in my new apartment (Im 175 yards from UTB, how pimp is that!)

anyways, all RGVians (is that correct? haha) that wanna do a shooting day my email is marcuz_allhen@hotmail.com

This weekend is good, or Aug 31st round that sounds good too.

I have a shotgun, and 2 22s, so a range where I can shoot all would be fine, or we can do different ranges in differnt days.

Mor days, more fun XD

The Real Gun Show in Pasadena added 2 dates, Oct 24&25 and Nov 7&8. Did anyone say road trip?

We can even do it in a single day, leave real early, get to Pasadena before noon and come back to the Valley when the show closes (around 5pm)

The Pasadena gun show is the best you can get in the Houston area, that's the one where you can get ammo for the cheap, plus a bunch of other goodies.

I'm going anyways, because my brother wants to buy some guns so I'm gonna help him out, and I may buy a rifle and/or a funky gun (for collects, one of those small single shot old west type guns, I love them, they are so funky hehe)

I drive a Chevy Cavalier, which sits 4 confortable (5 sqeezed) and can get me to Houston on a single tank (about $30 bucks) and I dont mind the drive, so if you chip in for gas we can go, or if you must drive in your car, I'll chip in for gas.

Any RGVians interested in partaking?

Hachiman goes to that show; was even talking about getting ZS literature made to hand out.

That's the weekend of the State Service Rifle Championship at Camp Swift, so I'm can't be there that weekend.

The rifle match is Oct 24/25th. Hachiman said he goes to most of the Pasadena shows; I PM'd him on this.

It is up to you guys to do a RGV chapter; that's too far to commute normally. I was just thinking we might all lift a beer together if y'all come up this way.

I think Sharkie said he's coming to our camp out in November.

I can add you to ZSC:014 so you can keep up with what we have going on.

Let us know which weekend your planning on coming up and we'll see if we can get a reception committee setup for you ;-)

We purposely stopped our AO around Victoria to leave room for Central and South\RGV Chapters to form. Your more than welcome on ZSC:014 so we keep track of each other a little easier and maybe even arrange some mutual support\ get togethers when possible.

I am down. have you found a range? I am looking at an outdoor range in Pharr but I can't go to the meeting yet because I got night school. Hopefully the first week of September I will go to a meet to see what I need and hear the rule.

I know of one range by Olmitos/Los Fresnos, I just need to stop been a lazy ass and driv there hehhe.

I'm going to Mexico for a few days so this weekend I can't do much, and next week school starts and I will be dropping about $500 in textbooks (yeah I know, I feel like yelling rape) so I'm thinking I'll go to the gun show in November. That will give me time to save up a little more money and make my mind on what I want, besides on Halloween weekend I'm going to Houston for Oni-Con (Anime convention) so that's gonna be another costly convention hehehe.

Anime and guns are my only vices, but damn they are expensive to maintain!

And to the others who have replied, forming an RGV chapter would be nice, but I understand that doing meetings and shit would be kinda hard, specially find a place that is fair for everyone, and that would prolly mean like 30 minute drive for everyone and meet in the middle of nowhere hahahaha. And I doubt a shooting range would let us do a meeting, they will prolly think we're a militant group or something, and having beer would be out of the question in that situation.

We can all meet up and go see Zombie Land hahaha, I really wanna see Woody Harrelson fighting zombies XD

On a related/side track note. I know this thread was not originally intended as a pic thread, but I haven't posted any pics of my gear in this forum yet, and I felt this is the best place I can do it, amongst my fellow RGVians XD

I need to unpack everything again, make inventory and take pics, right now this is the only pic I have at hand. By no means is this all my gear, but just my main stuff hehe. Questions and comments are welcome, tho again, I'm going to Mexico for a few days starting tomorrow, so I may not answer till Monday hehe

How about October 2nd?>

we can go to the premiere of Zombieland and then go shooting, or the other way around. Either way we will see Woody Harelson killing Zeds and get some shooting going. And afterward we can drink and dick around
