Just got an oil change and tires rotation. I just need to get an air filter. I am taking my sleeping bag just in case. Don't know if I should cut my hair, so I can look good in the pics.

What sort of shooting gear should I bring (other than the obvious guns and ammo)? Will we be needing targets (paper, I'm assuming, rather than the more fun watermelons...), clay pigeons, shooting mats, spotting scope, etc... ? Or is it just a "bring it all, and sort it out when we get to the range" type of plan?

Don't bring clay pigeons there are some at the range it is a fully acceable skeet, trap, five stand setup. Spotting scopes if you want to see what you are shooting at. Shooting mats don't know. There are shooting tables there. Targets more than likely. Don't forget the most important stuff like eye and hearing protection boys and girls.

Ya'll will love this!

I started getting some of my things together for this trip and put them all in one spot to keep em sorted easier. My daughter asked me why I was taking a sleeping bag, and I replied so I will have something to sleep in. She then proceeds to tell me " Just remember, you are not at home so sleep with clothes on while you're there."

I'm sure we'll make it fit. :D

*edit* I'm only bringing two bookbags, a sleeping bag, and a rifle case. Maybe a cooler for beer too. There should be plenty of room left in the car. :D

*double edit* Actually, it all fits into one bookbag, not including the sleeping bag and rifle case.

Any idea if it is legal for an out of stater to buy a gun in LA?

You sure? I can drive to Shreveport and buy long guns all day long from Bass Pro Shop cause I live in a neighboring state. Just can't buy hand guns. Or is that just a Gun Store Policy?

Any way, Only 24 hours, roughly, til I'm there!!!!!!

Guess we'll find out when we're there - but I wouldn't mind leaving the state with a new shotgun if it is allowed :). LA also has reciprocity with Florida for CWPs; think it makes a difference?

Can one of us buy a gun, then sell it to some one from out of stat (with a bill of sale)? Just asking. OK, let's see, boudin and cracklins - check, guns and ammo - check, booze and mixers - check......OK I am ready to go! See you guys tomorrow. Beer & Guns and I will be arriving in the pm sometime. Can't wait!!!!!!

It was my understanding that long guns can be purchased in any state by anyone. A friend of mine bought a shotty in Oklahoma this past spring at a gun store no problem. (he lives in Alabama)

And of course Face-to-Face sales are ok as well afaik. Anyone know for certain one way or the other?

I know for certain in MO you cannot purchase a long gun if you don't have residency in the state. I'm not sure however if this is a federal mandate or if it varies state by state. I guess we'll just see. I need to do some shopping.
