Well what with a power outage and then my moving and being without consistent internet, I haven't been able to check in here or even figure out if I'm going but consider me to still be a definite "maybe".

Well, I'm pretty sure I'll be coming, the girlfriend might, my buddy whose also a member here but has posted 2 or 3 times in the year of membership might, and I may be driving deschain and a friend of his. This is a confirmation of my attendance barring something coming up to prevent that, and my entourage and I need to work out vehicles.

Cool beans! It's funny but as I read this I have a wool blanket soaking in a cooler outside with woolite and dish soap, desperately trying to get the mothball stench out of it (at this point I'm afraid I'll have to burn it). Also have a 60's era white gas Coleman stove I'm working on. Although I've always used propane stoves, I've read so much lately about issues using propane in cold temps I'm looking for greater reliability (just got it from Ebay so reliability I can believe in will take some time).

Quite excited and having fun getting prepared... the campout will be here before we know it!

Hahahaha, I'm bringing 4 heating body patches, and hopefully a charcoal barbeque (maybe propane). There's a benefit to driving a truck, and its having plenty of space to bring EVERYTHING.
Just a delightful aside, I'm on my way to get a credit card, my first, and that precious key to buying Norinco's.
I love being 18.

I ran 4 blankets through the wash individually. I used a cap-full of woolite and a cap-full of regular detergent (still smelled after). After that, I threw it in the dryer with a regular dryer sheet and set it to fulff (no heat) (still smelled after). Finally, I put the thing on a clothesline in my basement overnight. That is what did the trick and got rid of the smell! No smell but that of the detergent!
I have all 4 standing by for the trip and am looking forward to it.

I haven't put mine in any dryers but it's been outside for days and days and run through multiple times with Woolite plus hand washing. My last idea is to take it to the car wash and spray the crap out of it with the wand (and air it out out outdoors several more days), failing that it's gonna burn.

If I try to run it in the house laundry the wife will divorce me for sure

Luckily I have other wool blankets I can take, probably warmer ones actually but I was hoping to keep them "household" blankets not outdoor.

Don't burn it! Wool smells just as bad as NFA's "fire cups" when you light em up. It may smell, but it's still warmth! Let me know if you want me to give it a shot.

Thanks but can't do it. Febreze + parrots = poultry. My blue and gold macaw would keel over.

My point stands. You guys lost to Slovakia. Hahahaha. That country isn't even on a risk board.

After buying a tonne of fireworks from a gas station today, i realize you folks sell firecrackers. If anyone feels the urge, if you could aquire gratuitous quanities, i'd be much oblidged.

Fireworks are illegal in New York state. We do not condone the trafficking of illegal explosives into the state. If you get caught doing such we will laugh and point at you.

Man, there's no way New York is more of a Nazi-state then Canada. I feel so bad for you guys. I just bought a tool-box full of fireworks, and I'm going to set off a bunch in my backyard. Hahaha.

I envy you. Fireworks can be a lot of fun. Not that I've ever set them off in NYS. CT, on the other hand has them legally.
And yes, NY is ridiculous.

ETA: Make sure you take them out of the box before you set them off. Actually, if you don't... take lots of pics and/or a movie!

Hahaha, we can't have firecrackers here, they are too easily turned into bombs. But we get things that throw off sparks and whistle and crap. If you come up to ottawa, I'd be happy to set off an assload of the things for you and buy some beer at the age of 18, cigarettes too.
CIGARETTES! Oh man, they are SO cheap down there, if anyone can get me a carton of Belmonts, i'll pay. Man they cost like 10$ a pack up here.

My licensing paperwork is going to take too long for me to bring my Enfield on this trip, so don't plan on having a .303 on my account.

*Note: My possession is still legal, my minor's license expired, so I have to renew. Since I'm over 18, I can't just call in for a new minor's, I have to wait 48 days for my PAL to get cleared. I'll be sending it in tomorrow. Yay gun amnesty!
