SoCal Events

Post by Garith » Fri Oct 17, 2008 2:32 pm

I am starting a new post so we can put the SoCal events here and just keep updating it.

Garith - Sunday the 19th of Oct there is a archery meet in Pasadena. SoCal ZS members should stop by and check it out (there are no fees, unless you want to join the range). The address of the site is 415 S Arroyo Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91105. Once you go down the drive way and find parking in the small lot follow the road to the concrete bridge and cross the "river". Directly across from the bridge you will see a group of people making shavings and having a good time. There is typlically someone there about 9 to 9:30 AM and it goes until people leave of it gets too dark. Materials permiting you can make your own bow in about 6 hours.

PaleHorse - "Sunday November 9th Range day..Anyone game? Which range?

I am up for the range day. Would people rather do handguns or rifles. In my neck of the woods there is Sharpshooters (1827 W. 208th St.Torrance, CA 90501 cross streets 208th St. & Western)
and LAX firing range (927 W. Manchester Blvd, Inglewood Ca, 90301 (310) 568 1515, Hours of operation Mon - Sat 12 Noon- 10 PM Sunday 12 Noon - 6 PM ). The down side they only allow handguns and rifles chambered for handguns (with in reason).

I think once we have an event date, firm location, and an event sponsor (any one of us) we should move it to it's own thread.

We can use this thread to discuss event ideas. Hammer out details. Figure out who is game and then make the actual event threads. Thoughts

Just to add a little;
I found the CERT class happening in the city of Riverside on the weekend of Nov. 7 - 9.
Of course, I'll be busy that weekend.
Here's a link to other IE cities doing CERT programs

Wow, I am not alone. I am new to this forum, but have been preparing for all kinds of apocalypses since I was very young.

I here there is a outdoor range in Saugus called "A Place to Shoot" - http://www.aplacetoshoot.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Haven't been there yet. Just frequent LAX range.

PaleHorse the ninth dosen't have to die. A few of us still can get together for some range time.

muscleman_coffeemesto The CERT class sounds fun but a bit to far from me. Kinda pissed off that the CERT class near me in Torrance only takes Torrance residents. Oh well.

zombievader you are close to me. We should get together sometime for some range time.

I can still pull something out of my ass for the 9th as well. Burro Canyon is always good.
As for A Place to Shoot, that's out there and I haven't been there.

I am always up to range time, especially since they passed that new ammo law. Want to get as much in before next fiscal year when it starts.

I will be up north from the 7th through the 11th, but I open after that.

The 16th is out for me I will be building bows in Pasadena. The 15th looks ok to me.

I will be going to LAX range in the next two weeks if anyone wants to come along.

Garith picked a range, although I'd like more information like location and range fees/restrictions.
Which one do you want to go to Palehorse?
I think I've already mentioned Burro Canyon...

If I remember its the paperwork (rules, liability) and then they give you card that you bring every time. They hold on to it while you shoot. Its has nothing to do with your skill. They get a lot of dumb asses, its lame, but you only do it once. I have had mine since 97.

Wow. It seems like all URL's that lead to guns is blocked by my work.
Anyway, I like shooting outside.

I just realized I can't do the 15th. So it would have to be the 16th. As far as the drive goes, anywhere in so cal is fine given enough notice. Burro canyon sounds fine.

Burro Canyon, Nov. 16th.
Sorry Garith.
So I'm penciling the date on my calendar. I have a clay thrower if anyone wants to shoot some birds.

Hey guys, sorry I've been absent so much lately. Sometimes life happens...

So I'm down for burro on the 16th. I need to zero rifles for the hunting trip anyways.

You can have the honors this time Palehorse. Oh, and can someone bring their "safety radio"? (Toecutter, cough) I'd like to see what those things pick up out in the sticks.
