Hahaha.

I'm not easily impressed....oh! Blue Car!

Movie night/pub crawl/down under Zombie con sounds pretty sweet.

Doc Simon shot me a message a while back saying that he might be heading down under and may make it through either Sydney or Melbourne or something.

That might be a little far for our sand groping cousins, but I'm up for maybe a mini-Z Con if other are?

The three P's that keep our economy going strong.

It's legal, but only around the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

Not that this really stops anyone.

In Sydney there is mtaylor0001, blackmesa, tehuringa that I can think of right now.

mtaylor0001 is online right now.

blackmesa still lurks around a bit.

I haven't seen tehuringa for a while but if he is still playing Urban Dead then razi will know where to find him.

In Gunslingerlandia there is teh Gunslinger.

If it turns out to be something substantial I'd try and cross the nullabor circumstances permitting. Maybe Kaylan and Dumb Blonde could come down from up top for something like that?

Swear might come up from Mappo and Indiana could watch on CCTV from his secret sattelite base, lol.

Don't forget to read through this thread guys, at some point amongst the ghost stories and lulz the ZS Board gave the green light for an Australian national chapter. Something as simple as the Australian Red Cross's "Mate's Donate" online blood donation program is (possibly) enough to qualify as a first (virtual) event.

Let's keep this in mind - look how much fun the poms (sorry Brash) are having.

Lurkers?

Yeah, I'd be up for a meet in Sydney for sure. Sounds like it's a convenient place for a meet up.

There was some other bloke who said he was from the mighty 'berra as well, but I haven't heard or seen him/her since (and I can't remember their name, either).

The 'Mate's Donate' thing sounds pretty good to me and a national chapter sounds sweet as. Downunder ZS con would be awesome (we could even extend an invite to our cousins across the Tasman - after all, most Kiwis are in Bondi now aren't they? There'd be hardly any travel at all  )

I'd definitely try to make it down for a meet if there were going to be a bunch of us. It'd depend on when, though - I'm in the thick of things with my professional year at uni this year, so my time for doing random stuff is a bit limited. Have to show I'm committed to teaching and all of that. On that note, I should get back to assignment writing.

(If we got our shit together before then, wouldn't this meet be a good time to have an official chapter meeting? :D?)

eta: Besides maybe a casual localized get together for drinks, etc the first order of business will be to get memberships.

Why is there always crickets around when ever I mention memberships?

I myself have finally got my credit/debit cards on track enough to make the jump. Film at eleven.

Though I ain't getting any of the current handout anytime soon myself I should be okay...

I have two "spends" planned for this week, one is teh membership (when the lovely Ms. Evening gets back to me about how instantaneous the credit card swipe is) and the other is either...

An LED Lenser 170 (+/-) lumen torch which will round out my new EDC.

or

A RECON 2 sleeping bag which is part of my long planned long suffering butt-packable sleep and shelter system.

or

A SORD STRIKE assault pack for EDC/GHB daily beater use or a SORD DAY assault pack for same.

It was my birthday yesterday and gorramit I'm spending some money on ME!

Happy birthday for yesterday!

How are you going to decide on which of your three options you go with? Roll a dice? :)

Thanks! 8)

My logic is going something like this...

I have a million torches but nothing in the 170 lumen range. However getting the LED Lenser will piss my best mate without breasts (my other two best mates have them) right off. I helped him get his LED Lenser 65 lumen which cost him about $100. I have since sourced the 170 lumen version for the same price. I can jump a train and go into town and pick it up and my EDC is complete. Knife, Multitool, Torch.

I have two decent sleeping bags but nothing in the "compresses down to something the size of a softball" range. The sleep/shelter system I've been working on for what seems like forever requires it and I already have the improved buttpack for it to live in. Right now they are on special for $99. I can jump in my car and go grab it. Admittedly there's still a few crucial elements to go before the system is complete but I've never seen them go for that low before.

I've always lusted after the Kifaru ZXR w XTL backpack. Since I never had a chance in hell of picking up one in auscam I fell for the multicam version. Now the SORD DAY pack looks remarkably like a Kifaru Zulu or ZXR (though admittedly in a 30litre version) - lo and behold they make them in auscam and multicam *sigh*. I need a daily beater bag though the DAY is like $180 and probably $80 over what I was originally going to let myself spend on myself.

Then I saw THIS - The SORD STRIKE and for no real logical reason I lust after it badly (no real logical reason beyond OMG it's awesome). It's normally $245 on special at $180 right now.

It doesn't come in multicam.
I never really liked panel loaders before.
The colour in most of those pics is Tan. It is the tan pics I have fallen in love with. It doesn't come in Tan.
It comes in auscam or sord base colour.
I like auscam.
I like packs you can attach lotsa pouches to. I believe molle left unpouched is cause for loss of man-points.

So why do I keep thinking I'm going to get the STRIKE in sord base colour and run it slick (ie: with no external pouches and the molle left unused)? :?

I totally get the bag lust. Not necessarily for that one specifically, but in general. ;) I'd send them an email asking if they've got pics of an auscam and a base colour version, just to complicate things more. Although it might clarify it for you, seeing them side by side (I like the base colour, btw).

If it was me, I'd be asking which is the first priority - getting the EDC sorted, getting the sleep system sorted, or getting the bag sorted.

Or I'd go for the bag. But like I said, I get the bag lust too.

haha I've been playing the priority game for over a week now.

If I go the STRIKE route I've pretty much dismissed DCPU/auscam straight away. I think I've got to a point in my gearwhore career that I can live without camoflague in an everyday carry piece (I'm actually not that bad, really). That leaves the base colour which I've got to tell ya, I like as well.

The most logical thing to do in terms of priority would be to finish what's finishable - which is the EDC but if the SHTF tommorrow I will still have torches at my disposal. I will still have a sleeping bag too...

Can you hear me talking myself into getting the bag? Bag lust, it's a powerful thing.

My name is the Tetra Grammaton Cleric and I am down with the sickness.

And done.

$187.50 + 15.00 (+/- P&H Australia Post Express Post).

1 x SORD STRIKE in SORD Base Colour.

Won't hit the cc until it ships. Mmmm... Self Disclipline...
Oh well, I've paid the bills and bought another 10litres of water (that's the "semi" programmed in budgeted planned prep spend).

Rock n' roll.
