I actually just went to http://maps.google.com/ and found that it is only a 14 hour drive. I wouldn’t want to do that trip in the Wrangler but if I get a rental from my work I could do it easily. Anyone else thinking of driving out?

Sounds like Pugil is a go. How does an hour of bayonet instruction followed by a round robin pugil match sound?
As far as PT goes, I'm thinking stretching, light calisthenics, and a 1 to 2 mile run, depending on how hungover we are. Nothing too grueling.
As for an obstacle course, hehehehehe.

oooh! water baloons!

Oh, and how do you win a pugil match? Not be in a coma? ...And are these like American Gladiator pugils? ...Because they had to fall off the things...

Thanks for the link.

We'll put them to use. We plan to make this event an anual thing so maybe you'll be able to attend one in the future.

I did a search, didn't find anything on this, so if I'm being redundant--sorry. I'll accept the trout-slap.

So to cramp my excitement of discovering this cool group escaladed by the announcement of an evidently kick-(rear) ZombieCon...I just remembered I'm obligated to run games at DieCon that same weekend. =(

Are there any other ZS members similarly entangled?

Speaking of cons, I'm the Web admin for he annual SAGA-Con down here in Springfield, MO. It's in October (not the same weekend as Archon,) and was curious about what I would need to do to try to organize a presentation of some sort.
It's a small con (compared to DieCon and Archon, for sure,) and mostly gaming related. So I'd hate to run the risk of diluting the purpose and intent of ZS by doing something at a gaming con...but anyway, this is why I bring this up. =)

(Perhaps this should be in a different thread?) Anyway, any feedback?

Thanks!

Sorry you can't make it.

You're welcome to download fliers to distribute at the con and I can try to mail you some promotional stuff (send me an e-mail kyle at zombiehunters.org) but we're not comfortable having other people do any seminars using the Zombie Squad name at this time. I'm not saying you would misrepresent the organzation but we have to cover our asses.

No no! That's quite understandable and completely expected. I didn't think of doing anything myself (except the posting/handing out of flyers,) I was actually hoping I might get an official rep to come down.
This is all speculative...I still need to discuss the idea with the con staff...but I was first wanting to know if it would be something that ZS would even consider doing. =)

=P I suck at communicating.
No, SAGA-Con, the con I'm connected with, is in October. Unrelated to DieCon. I just mentioned my disappointment that I have to miss the ZS Camp to run games at DieCon. =)

It's too close to Archon. Maybe some other year.

Just a reminder...

ZombieCon 2005

What is it?

ZombieCon is a four day camping retreat with Zombie Squad members from around the country.

What will we be doing?

We'll have a loose schedule of events during the weekend. More will be added but here are a few events we have planned so far to give you an idea:

- Canoing
- Morning PT
- Visit to a local shooting Range
- Airsoft exercises
- Hiking
- Watching bad Zombie Movies
- Proving a lot of this crap we talk about on the internet

We will provide the land, water, firewood, canoe rental, toilet facilities, breakfast and a BBQ on Saturday and we'll try to have some supplies on hand in case you forgot something.

There will be airsoft rifles and ammo for you to use for the airsoft exercises but you're also welcome to bring your own.

We will have an electric generator available if you need to charge batteries and such.

When is it?

This Summer. Thursday June 2nd through Sunday June 5 2005

Who is hosting this event?

Zombie Squad board members and volunteers who can be
reached at:

camp@zombiehunters.org

ZOMBIE SQUAD
P.O. BOX 63124
ST. LOUIS, MO. 63163

How much will it cost?

To cover our expenses and to secure the location for all 4 days of the event we will asking for $50 per person by May 15th.

We are offering a discounted rate of $30 for those that are interested in volunteering their time. We're looking for people interested in hosting a seminar or "workshop" at the camp. Contact us for more details.

How do I sign up?

You must be at least 18. You can paypal here:
http://www.zombiehunters.org/zcamp.html

You can send an e-mail to camp@zombiehunters.org for more information or to make other payment arrangements.

Where will it be held?

The gathering will be located on private land a few hours west of St. Louis. A map and detailed directions to the location will be provided upon request or with registration. Since this is private land we don't want to advertise it all over the Internet.

If you will need transportation from St. Louis (airport, train station, etc) contact us ahead of time and arrangements will be made. You're also welcome to car pool with us out there if you can get to St. Louis.

If you need any more specific information about the location before your register please contact us at: camp@zombiehunters.org

What will you need to bring?

We will supply breakfast and a dinner on Saturday but you'll need to bring food for the rest of the weekend in addition to portable shelter, and pretty much anything else you would normally bring in a regular "bug out" situation for four days. We will be sending you a list of recommend supplies to bring with you when you register.

If you need food, a tent or any other supplies but you will not be able to bring them due to your travel arrangements let us know and we can work something out with you.

Other details to note:

Alcohol - Please be responsible. If anyone drinks too excessive they may be asked to leave by a member of the Zombie Squad or the property owner. The legal drinking age will be observed.

Firearms – We will be having a “field trip” to a local shooting range but so if you plan to bring any firearms they must be locked up at all times while on the property.

You can feel safe knowing that the organizers of the event have a working relationship with with local law enforcement if there are any problems.

I have 4 extra tents if anyone needs to use one. I would be happy to bring them along. Two of them are 1-person tents. Let me know.

Bring all of your tents, I'm sure someone will forget/not have one. You will be well liked and you could rent them to the unprepared...

Paul will be well liked anyway. So, we checked out the land this weekend, did a little scouting, trail marking, and stuff. Very fun, very beautiful land. This trip will be a blast. Be there or be a slobbering flesh-craving dead person.

It's big. Check out the pictures in the personal experiences link. To lazy to find it now. Anyway, there's streams, and hills, and rocky parts and all. Also stinkbugs.
