But in Farcry2, all you did was waste ammo and possibly die. You don't level up based off of kill counts in FC2. One of the reasons why it went back in exchange for BF3.

Battlefield 3 is beyond words. If you dont own a console or pc, find someone who does, and ask them to try BF3. You will absolutely love it.

I played the BF3 beta, and couldn't stand it. What's the point of a huge map that's blocked out into tiny 20-30m sightlines? Why is everything so @!#!@ shiny? The silly-ass tapco furniture? Always-on flashlights and magically visible lasers?

They took BFBC2 and made it "tacticooler", and told us all that we weren't smart enough to handle an SDK. No thx.

That has kinda made me sad, that the black guy, the texan, and the geek are gone from BF:BC.

If they'd kept those guys, and their kinda storytelling, but updated the weps, gave us some new levels, weps, etc, I'd have been cool with that.

Or, you know, made BF3 a sequel to BF2, which was the best MF'ing game DICE ever managed to attach their name to.

Still like 2142 better, something about the blood curdling scream as you used a drop pod, or those frantic down to the wire fights aboard the Titans.

I must admit, I have only played BF:BC, BF:BC2 and BF3. None other. However I want to, just a matter of finding them.

BF 1942 was amazing, but it has not aged well, it came out what, 12 years ago? Doubt it would run on todays computers
BF Vietnam was just terrible....
BF 2142 was Sci-Fi but not over the top aliens with lasers type, it was still assault rifles and sniper rifles, just what we could possibly have in a hundred years.
BF 1943 never played it, but heard it was terribad.

I would have married bf2
vietnam was awful as said above
2142 was weird, took a while for me to get into it. I loved the pods to the aerial bases and hallway warfare up there. Trying to get outside before it blew up was badass too haha.

Bf3 is pretty cool. I play pc, the maps are huge. Only complaint really is that unlocks (weapon upgrades basically) are too far between, but that may just be that I'm not very good and it takes me a while to get xp or something. I like playing the medic and support classes. Conquest is where it's at.

I guess I'm in the minority, I loved BF:Vietnam. I liked that you could air drop the tanks with a heli, I liked being able to play music, I liked the punji sticks. The heavy machinegun was way overpowered though. I haven't tried 3 yet, still need to d/l it.

SWTOR is getting a facelift again, so I'm having withdrawal. They've said it won't be up until after the weekend at least. It really is just KOTOR3 with some MMO stuff added, you really don't have to group except for the "best" missions, or at least where you'll get some of the best drops. If it wasn't going to be a monthly pay to play I'd recommend it for even casual SW fans, and even then you can probably play through 1 storyline a month with only a few hours a day.

What is everyone's name in BF3? I go by Rubic13, buddy me up. And Czechnology, all I have to say is that the bigger maps makes it a lot better. Hopefully they come out with a demo of operation firestorm or something of that like. Or did you get a chance to play caspian boarders on the weekend? If you played that, and still didn't like it...well oh well. But yeah, hardly no one plays metro, and me and my buddy leaves the server if it rotates to that.

edit: Forgot to say, I play on the PC, so if you have bf3 for pc, send a buddy request.

Its all a matter of preference. Personally I hate arcade games like COD. Run around a tiny figure 8 map shooting constantly? no thanks.

As for the BF3 beta? It was an old construct released for the sole reason of testing their servers. No one liked the beta. The game that I paid for is breath taking and magnificent. I agree the weapons do take some time to unlock. I am terrible with some of the weapons, so it has taken awhile to unlock the better guns in 2 of the classes.

I absolutely loved the Vietnam DLC for BF2. Just grew tired of playing same old maps.

I'm just a curmudgeony asshole who hates dumping 10 rounds into someone to kill them. After I found Red Orchestra, everything else was an arcade game, though COD is certainly the king of that bunch.

I found that in FarCry2. In FC2, seeing someone get Mozambique'd with a 308, then get back up, completely obliterates my faith in the game.

How is BF3 on single-player?
I'm not usually a online multiplayer guy, but my brother in-law expressed interest in BF3, so I'll be getting a copy for when he comes over. I'm a CoD fan; I just wish they'd come out with DLC which included more single player levels.
It can always get worse.

Short. Tries to be a tank, flight, standard shoot em up and stealth soldiering game. IT's... above standard. Not excellent, not subpar, just a click or two above average.

But we all know that's how .223 is, man. And 5.45x39 is the same as .223, it's just that the Russians are metric.

LMAO, yeah! But this also happens with headshots from the SCAR-H...which is 7.62x51, correct? I'd like to meet a mo-fo who could take that lickin' and keep on tickin'

Dude... FC2: FAL (which is also 7.62x51) 2 to the chest, one to the head... and he gets back up. I'm thinking, in real life his chest would be jello, and half his head would be gone. So much for realism...
