I have a Leatherman MUT, and have been very happy with it.

Just thought I'd post this. As of this moment, the Victorinox Spirit X multitool is on sale on Amazon for about $46 bucks.

If you look for the one priced at $55.xx, they apply a $10 bonus on checkout (and make sure to check the 'free shipping' option). Total comes to $45xx but doesn't ship until early August. So... if you're not in a killer hurry and are looking for this MT, it's a good time.

I have no idea how long this promotion will last, though. But it's good as of Mon, Jun 18, at 5PM central time.

I saw that too but I have to tell you, the whole "give us your money now and we promise to ship the item to you sometime in the indefinite future" really left me cold. It almost sounds like some importer is trying to raise the capital to put in a big enough order to get some reduced per unit cost. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but unless it's an about to be released book, DVD or computer game, this business of paying for something that isn't available yet just sort of feels odd. YMMV.

I just scored a leatherman for free. It was in the lost & found at work. Been there awhile so I was allowed to claim it. I'm assuming it's a first gen as it isn't marked with a model name. Just says leatherman tool. Anyone know what it is?

You're probably right; it's either the original PST or an early PSTII that was not marked as such. Do the blades lock open? Does it have an awl? If you open the handles, pull out the tools, and look inside do you see a date stamp (MMYY)?
