Picked up a new rifle case. It's an old padded small Fender soft guitar case in great condition for $7. Big front pocket that fits 11x 30 round mags (modified to 10rnd per state law) and backpack straps. Still even had the plastic over the 'fender' metal stamp on the front. Fits the AR perfectly. Now I don't feel paranoid when walking to my car with my rifle. :)

Also found a fleece pullover (new) and a long sleeve underarmor type shirt in like new condition for $3 each at Goodwill.

My wife and I have equipped our BOBs and our severe weather storage with pretty much nothing but thrift store finds. We have a few tubs full of extra winter clothes (hurray for Colorado!) that are all really nice, barely used name brand stuff. Stuff my wife figured was near $2k brand new but we couldn't have spend more than $100 or so on. Go to Goodwill (if you have them in your town) on their half off everything Saturday. It's every other Saturday. I could a newish, fully equipped Columbia water proof, wind proof jacket for a few bucks! Even if you don't buy anything just the people watching is a blast.

Unless there's something new you HAVE to have don't buy new. Give it a few weeks and it'll probably turn up at a thrift store or estate sale. Heck, our BG guy picked up a Mosin at a garage sale for like $20.

Not a thrift store find, but a thrifty find...

8 quarts of Organic Strawberries (Driscoll's) for a grand total of $4.50 at Jungle Jim's in the reduced section. Not a single bad one in the batch (there were probably 40 cases of them (8 qts per case)). My wife simply moved them till she got to the bottom of the stack, where they were still nice and cool... Chopped the stems off and putting them all in the freezer for smoothies...

Win!

We actually regret not buying a couple of more cases...

Couple of months ago, got the LARGE cans of Dinty Moore (Beef and Chicken and Dumplings) for like a buck fifty. About 30 of them in total.

My best find to date has been a big box (15lbs or so) of cheap knives - made in china junk, mostly folders a few fantasy fixed blades. Gave $10, figured I could throw a couple in each tool box for loaners and give-a-ways.
Got home and dumped it out - was a gil hibben star trek knife, two gerber applegate/fairbane folders, benchmade Nimravus, and a case stockliner mixed in with all the crap.
Sold the hibben to a collector - $100 kept the rest.

Not exactly a thrift shop find, but I snagged a Cold Steel Vaquero Grande folding knife at an antique store yesterday.

A quick check online shows this particular knife goes for about 35 to 56 bucks new and I snagged mine for around 17 bucks. All it needed was a little cleaning and I now have a nice workable blade that is by far the biggest folding knife I have ever owned.

So Spokane just recently got a Marshalls store in the northtown mall. While this store isnt something I would considure to be a true thrift store, I'll tell you what they have so decent deals to be found if you look. I got 3 Swiss Sigg water bottles for 2.99 each. When I saw the bottles I was expecting a $ 12-15 dollar price or so. flipped them, over saw the price, and spent the rest of my time in the store muttering like golum about my precious.

Last week I picked up a vintage Columbia hunting jacket, in great condition with a cool vintage flair for $4, a pair of dan bailey's waders for $14 that don't look like they have ever been used, and 4 cast iron skillets for $7.

Yesterday, at yard sale, I picked up a IIIA Kevlar vest in great shape. The asking price was 10 cents (say what), I picked up a a few pairs of BDU trousers also. I ended up giving the lady 10$ (even though she only asked for 30 cents) because it was a charity yard sale for an operation that scoops up stray cats, neuters them, and finds them a home.

Scored a NICE women's aluminum Cannondale touring bicycle at a garage sale for $20. Flipped it for $200 the next day.
Bought a nice Centurion touring bike for myself for $125 today.
So I basically got paid $55 to ride this cool bike. WIN.

Got SUPER lucky today at an estate sale.

Picked up 2 metal boxes with handles, one small one large. Figured that they will either make good storage or a faraday cage.
Also an old school OD poncho shelter.

And all for $10 total! :)
