Post by dustytomes » Thu Dec 06, 2012 8:36 pm

So I'm Looking for cool gift ideas for a gift exchange.
last year I brought a dollar store zombie survival kit: lukewarm reception.
The year before a machete with I machete zombie stickers: they loved it.

Do you have a Cabelas near you? They have a sweet sale price on a mini-multi tool at the moment

For $4.99. I happen to think this is a great little bargain and would make an awesome prepping gift that is both fun and practical.

Not sure if you are looking for a zombie theme. If not, Home Depot usually has a solid selection of less expensive multi-tools and mini-flashlights this time of year. The best thing to do, if possible, is to just go in person and take a walk around the floor displays.

Lowes has a 50% off sale on fruit trees/berry bushes until 12/24/12. Most are under $10 now. I'm going to go get a bunch this saturday. 8-)

I was at a Walmart near me and they had a $10 gift section with stuff like Bear Grills knife, multi tools, flashlights, folders, etc. So I bought a Winchester lock blade with 'Dad' impinted on it. They also had a $20 section that had an SOG fasthawk, and a Kershaw gift set that included the Kuro, flashlight and tactical pen. Kuro by itself is about $20 normally.

But the Walmart near my work didn't have these items so YMMV.

Awesome, I was just informed today that they're having a $10-15 gift exchange next Friday, will be watching this thread with interest.

Non-prepping related but still fun is ten dollars worth of scratch-off lottery tickets. Or go to a grocery store that has a good candy section (or somewhere like World Market) and get two or three really good chocolate bars.

I'm leaning towards a box of ammo for my work exchange, but that would be almost universally appreciated at my work place, YMMV.

+3? +4? Whatever it is - Headlamps.

One for the car, one for the toolbox, the GHB, lots of places for a shiney new headlamp to live.
