My recent collaboration with my custom knife buddy T. M. Hunt has yielded this, the M-18.

I must have been good this year because my hubby and son bought me a fixed blade for Mother's Day. It looks like a Winchester knock-off to me. Not expensive but it's got a nice feel in the hand and seems to hold a nice edge.

It looks like a chunk of mower blade. What you see is called the "sail"

My Modest collection. I think I'm missing one or two, one is a skinner I bought from a guy in Dallas. #99 that he had made.

Image

From top to bottom:

1) Indian kukri. Type used by our gardener in Kihim, made in his village. Very nice. Doesn't look like much but very good at clearing brush and chopping branches. Especially useful for splitting coconuts, but I haven't tested mine out on that yet.
2) Condor bush knife. Picked it up in Alaska last year, took it on a day hike with me. Right now, it's my hiking/camp knife.
3) Kershaw folder, Steepandcheap.com for $18.
4) Pretty Damascas knife I picked up locally. Making a sheath for it right now.
5) Benchmade Barrage. EDC blade.
6) Knife my brother gave me. Friend of his made it, handle is an antler from my brother's first deer.
7) $9.99 Gerber folder from WalMart.
8) Knife my brother made for me out of an old lumberjack saw. One of those 2 man saws. Nice patina on it. WOrking on a sheath for it also.
9) Fire striker/necker. Can't remember which web site I ordered it from, but it works beautifully.
10) Mini karambit. Cheap folding style, but has come in handy at work for cutting zip ties and such. Can hook it under what I need to cut with out cutting the material it's tied to.

I have my eyes on a few more and I'm even going to attempt to make a few this summer.

I have been looking for a small 2 handed machete for a long time. Either I found small machetes with only enough room for one hand on the handle or a 2 handed machete that was very long/heavy. Finally, Cold Steel came out with the 2 handed Latin Machete @ 30" overall. I wanted it a little shorter so I cut off 4 inches at the end making it 26" overall. It's perfect was was really easy to do. Here it is:

I just got this a few days ago and it is by far the best folder I have ever used!

Image

The Zero Tolerance Ranger Green Folder ZT301...its so awesome...its shaving sharp right out the box and holds its edge amazingly. Its made out of S30V stainless-steel with Tungsten DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating with Tiger Stripes...its a heavy beast of a knife but one that will stand up to just about anything you put it through.

My most recent acquisition. Cold Steel Lite Tanto.

Image

Overall I am impressed with the knife. What impressed me the most was the low cost ($32 from CS). It came out of the box shaving sharp. Only thing that I am "eh" about is the weight. I prefer my edged weapons to have some heft. This is almost feather light. Hell, my Evo 4G weighs more than the knife. The only thing I want for it is a better sheath. The one that came with it sucks ass, tactically.

There's some guys that do custom kydex for those. I would suggest River City Sheaths from Mike Sastre. Also there are a few kydex benders here on ZS as well.

Bark River Manitou, with a 4.6" Drop Point Blade of 52100 Carbon Steel, with Full Convex Grind, G10 Handle, and Leather Sheath. Picture by seller, of my actual knife.

I sometimes find myself in settings, where it might seem a bit excessive to whip out my Griptilian.
