Shooting vampire stakes with the slingshot

Post by JoergS » Sun Apr 10, 2011 2:42 am

Vampires are fashionable right now, lots of Hollywood coverage going on.

The Slingshot Channel can not ignore this important tendency in entertainment.

Vampires are usually disposed off by means of a wooden stake, rammed right through the undead creature's heart. So shooting a stake is the challenge of the day.

A vampire stake is no lightweight thing, many movies clearly demonstrated that a 1" rod is minimum, and penetration must be about 8 to 10 inches to be on the safe side. This means that the stake will weigh 8 to 10 ounces.

Includes a training stake!

I've gotta have one of those. It'll make my moviegoing experience so much more enjoyable when my gf drags me to the next twilight movie. Think I'll get in trouble for lobbing stakes at the screen? Lol

In the teutonian heartland, vampires are serious stuff! I had a laugh until I saw the penetration. Awesome!!!!

A stupid question but why not just shoot a vampire in the heart with a wooden arrow? Certainly that would work? Also a daylight spectrum florescent bulb or UV bulb should also work on vampires, right? Why not use those as your bow aiming light?

I think the mass of the wood and the size of the injury might be important. Wood must be poison for vampires, stopping their self healing abilities.

Light may or may not work, but I am just a humble slingshot guy and have to leave the sophisticated stuff to others. All I can do is to come up with stuff that hurls things.

 I can see it now, "The hammer of Thor", launching a hand sledge or hammer from one of those horrific/awesome contraptions.

That was really cool. I like how you even showed your missed shots.

Just when I think you can't come up with something new and different, you prove me wrong. Well Done, sir!

The trainer stake literally made me laugh out loud.

Now I must hide before the co-workers come to find me.

I'm sure that this isn't the reason why it needs to be a stake, rather than an arrow, but the main character in I am Legend (the book) explains it.

Something about letting the oxygen into the vampires system, which reacts to whatever "virus" caused it. Gun shots and superficial wounds didn't allow it to happen, because of some secretion that gummed up the holes very fast.

And if I remember right, the whole wooden stake thing originally was to just keep the damn vamp from squirming around the coffin while you cut the head off.

Joerg this is incredible, the trainer is great and could probably be used too. The undead will be incapacitated by his uncontrollable laughter

Just be careful with that JoergS and never ever shoot that around female vampires! We wouldn't want a Miss STAKE to happen.
