id say a light saber or a fairly short sword.

if its to long you cant use it inside and if your using it outside you would get tired carying it.

Get yourself a good machette or bolo. They serve double duty as brush clearers. Try Cold Steel. They always have good stuff.

Cold Steel makes a decent bolo. Check out their site.

OR if you don't care about quality and just want the job done by a blade, you can try BudK... I myself have been put off BudK and have become a BudK hater, but you never know.

You might get that one-in-a million machete that is cheaply manufactured in Mexico and for some reason is awesome. Who knows.
If you drop a zombie, does that count as a kill?

A Khukri knife would be cool, for instance: A zombie comes at you, you pull at your Khukri knife, and in one motion, you cut off it's head.

Nothing specifically directed at you.

I would just like to see everyone in mortal combat with the weapons that are talked about on this thread, and see how they fare.

I would rather swing my empty carbine than knife fight a zombie.

Melee, for me is the bottom of the bucket and if theres nothing else I can do. I don't plan on letting on a blood curdling death screech, and charging a group of zombies, with a K-Bar. I think I'd use it when I'm out of ammo, backed into a corner, and it doesn't look to good for me. Plus that empty carbine, can make a good weapon.

You have to be proficient and well trained to consider using a sword of any kind. You are better off with a aluminum bat or crowbar (and even still you need to hold it correctly and swing it correctly). One of the most famous martial artist in Japan famous for killing the best swordsmen fought with a wooden sword. Check Miyamoto Musashi.

I'm now thinking about going with a crowbar, machete, and sheath knife (K-BAR?), because they can be used for duel purposes.
Crowbar-Opening and Smashing things
Machete-Cutting Things (vines, branches, necks)
K-BAR- Skinning games, and stabbing

I never used a machete. But for a katana when one swings it to cut something, you have the have the do it with the correct stance and angle (you don't really need to use much force either). If you swing wildly swing at the neck area it may not make the complete cut and may even get stuck even - putting you in a more vulnerable position. Let alone having the time to get in the proper position. At least with a bat (or possible a crowbar) the general area to hit is pretty straight forward.

I'd rather not carry a 10lb piece of metal around that I hope not to use, and that would suck in close quarters where it's needed most. Give me a short club any day.

Dude, I think this was invented already. It is called the bayonet. It can be taken off and used as a pretty good hand-to-hand combat knife, and is very good as a survival knife. Well, at least our M9 bayonets. Don't know about other countries.

In any case, works better then a knife (you don't have to get as close to them), theres no losing it, and its a multipurpose weapon.

I think they were talking about using their carbine as a club.
