Tennis ball bola

Seems like this would be a great way of tripping up individual zombies to facilitate poking something sharp and pointy into their brain at your leisure.

Interesting. Wonder if something a bit heavier than a tennis ball would give it a little more oomph.

I've seen 'em done with rocks and leather sand bags.

Could be fun to play with different weights for sure, as well as unbalanced weights. Certainly a less lethal way to restrain an escapee with practice.

And a week after that he'll have one that uses bowling balls as weights

I would check with local laws first. In many places it could fall under the guise of a monkey fist which could very well be (like in Colorado) illegal. Even using the tennis balls it may be considered such. Just Sayin'

Thanks though. I forgot about these and as a child I had fun playing with a set of these.

I actually have done some work with bolas. Made a fine set of those from cat food cans and empty batteries. From 5:10 onwards!

I even made a crossbow for bola type ammo once, even though it only fires the two weight variant.

There ya go.  8-)

Love the launcher.

The labels on the cat food can reminds me of a story about my mom, when she was a young G.I.'s wife in Germany in the early/mid-'60s. She was shopping for groceries, and did not speak German. Among her purchases was a can of cat food for her kitten. The lady behind the counter was very concerned that the American was going to accidentally eat cat food, and explained very loudly that it was "for der kitty kat!". :D

Well, now quality cat food is so expensive that it is actually cheaper to feed the cats with pork, chicken or beef from the supermarket... o tempora, o mores.

IIRC, 16th century Argentinians used them as slungshots. They had shorter cords and heavier weights then the thrown bolas.
