The steel is 1095 and if treated right I really like it. Nothing fancy, just a good steel that gets the job done. Mora changed the inlay to a gold like lettering.
The handle feels like a champ in my larger hands.
As stated the spine is thicker than the typical Mora.
Lets compare the blade thickness of the following Mora knives. From left to right. The High Q is .079, #2 is .098 and Robust is .125. All of these knives are winners in my book. The conventional wisdom states the thinner scandi should cut easier. They all seemed to cut through wood very well. Time will tell if I find a preference in this regard. I do think the thicker knife would be better for heavier work like batoning but have done this with the thinner Mora blades as well.
Just messing around to see how it cuts.
Conclusion.
So far I like this knife. For the money like most every Mora I own it’s a good value. Over time I gravitate to just a few knives for actual use and this determines what is liked more so than initial impressions. For now being the newest kid on the block it has my attention.
