I am currently looking to buy a new fixed blade and a larger folder. Below are what i have kind of narrowed it down to. However my last 2 gerbers that i have bought have had some issues with rusting blades.... This was not due to neglect. Folder looking for something with atleast a 3inch blade.

looking for opinions

Fixed blades
1.) gerber lmf II
2.) sog seal team
3.) kershaw deer hunter
4.) rat cutlery rc5

folders
1.) kershaw blur
2.) sog aegis tanto
3.) benchmade http://www.benchmade.com/products/product_detail.aspx?model=14200-70X

The SOG SEAL is a hell of a knife. I have the Pup version and love it (wish I had the full size too).

Don't own any of the folders that you listed, but out of the ones I have, the SOG Flash II is my all time fav (with assited opening).

The RAT RC5 for sure, freaking kickass customer service. You break the knife for any reason and they'll usually just replace it for free. (I have heard of it on lots of sites)

I dont know any of those folders but I know people with Benchmade griptillian knives (full size, not the mini) that really like them.

Plus, you're buying USA made items in both cases if you get a RAT and a Benchmade.

Have you looked at Cold Steel folders? The Voyager series is awesome now that they've gone to a steel pocket clip.

as for folders, look into the Benchmade, they make some great products... i have been EDCing a mini-griptillian for about 5 or 6 years now, and it's still going strong...

The izula is pretty sweet. going into this i figured i would end up finding things that i didn't think of. I had not looked at cold steel, i will take a look at their line up. I may end up replacing my edc knife less then 1 day after cleaning and the blade is again covered in splochie rust from being in me pocket.

OP, you are definitely on the right track with the SOG Seal knives. I have a Seal Pup and absolutely love it. It holds an edge, comes sharp from factory, is extremely strong, and best of all, it's sheath can be attached to a Molle platform.

For a folder, I think you should take a look at a Cold Steel AK47. Now, it's a pretty big knife, and if your looking for something that size, you can't go wrong.

Here is a link to the AK47.

If you look at his last past your a couple months late, he has already purchased.
He purchased RAT Cutlery's RC5 which will probably cut through a sog (NO LIE!)
If you cut a SOG Sealpup into 2 pieces with an arc wielder would SOG replace it?
The RC5 was designed to cut through anything and it will!

I still think my post was relevant for anyone else who reads this thread.

Were also talking about 2 completely different knives. The OP contained no information as to what he would be using it for. The Rat knife is +$120 and the Seal Pup is -$60. You're right, If I have $120 to spend, I probably wouldn't get a SOG knife, but I wouldn't get the RC5 either.

1.) kershaw blur

had my eye on this one too.
Got the ex a rainbow adonized Leek years ago. That SOB is fast. Nothing to open it either, that safety is there for a reason. And unlike my 50's style Italian switchblade, it stayed in place. It's wafer thin and has a tight clip, won't ever fall out of jeans at least.
But the Blur looks a little more stout and beefy in the handle.
But I was also looking at the new assisted OTF types that are out there...always thought OTF was cool.

May I suggest the Zero Tolerance ZT0300 and the Becker BK-2? A tough combo to say the least.
