Hey Everyone:

The VA approved my disability pension so I took the back pay and put enough into the savings account to pay my bills for a year. I also paid off my credit cards, winterized my car, bought some ammo for my CCW, and got some cold-weather clothing.

Installed my Bearcat scanner in my "BOV", pretty stoked about that. Acquired an old Tasco 18E spotting scope (20-60 x 60mm). Made in Japan in the late 70's, this thing is quality!!! Paint had started flaking, so sanded it, and gave it a nice coat of OD :0)

Installed a Anytone 5888 ham radio in my BOV. Shopping Internet for bulk ammo deals- nothing caught my eye.

near filled the deep freezer. 15# ground beef, 15# steaks, 10# chicken, 20# various frozen veggies, a bunch of frozen drink mixes, and some ice.

With the way we currently cook/shop for groceries, I have us 2 months of food ahead of what we normally use. So if one of us lost a job, etc. we're set for 2 months before even touching the actual prep food supply stash.

Replaced the crappy laces in my boots with new paracord.
Programmed 2 keyless entry fobs for the wife's car so she wont be distracted by unlocking the car and be an easy target for evil doers.

Those adaptors are a real money-saver! Less then a buck to fill the small canister from a BBQ tank

New townhouse is now run on all LED. I can light 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, laundry area living/dining and the porch for a total of only 86.5 watts. Will add 1 or 2 more lights but even without, the whole place is really bright. Brightest place on our row when I compare the lighting.
I was able to find cool white ones as opposed to daylight temp ones. Easier on the eyes and the house doesn't look like an office.

Tested my 2 inverter type airconditioning units. Rating is 1080W initially then goes down and maintains only 270W. Stays steady since the compressor doesn't go through the stop&start cycle to maintain the temp. So efficient that even keeping it on a low setting will cool ambient temp of 78F with 82% humidity. I'm happy with the purchase.

Will be putting in a high efficiency refrigerator as well. I wish I could have gotten an inverter type as well but I got a good price on this. Has LED interior lighting as well.

Now to save up for a good washing machine...

While it may not be a "sexy" prep, that is a damn excellent emergency preparedness measure. My hat is off to you, sir.

For me, today I went to work so I can afford to spend money on gear for vehicle kits that I'm researching. (Not much, I know, but it's something, at least.)

Put jumper cables in the wife's new (used) car.
Taught her how to change a tire and made her do it twice.

Does this mean you're now sleeping on the couch until New Year?

OT: Thanks for reminding me that I've not checked through my car kit since changing my vehicle back in the summer. I'll need to do that before we make the seasonal road trip to visit my relatives.

I've been considering the whole Bugging In thing a lot lately. I'm going to hit the mall and start looking around for anything that catches my eye.

Anyone have any favorite bugging in threads?

Before she immigrated to the U.S. I laid down the law to her. She isn't allowed to go out on her own until she can change a flat tire, change her own oil, and had a CHL and is proficient at operating her weapon. She's done all of that except change the oil (Just bought the car and only put about a hundred miles on it so far.)

**EDIT** Just got back from my Dad's lease. She sure can handle an AR-15!!! Shot her first pig tonight and now she wont give me the AR back. I told her she could have it on the condition that I get to build another one (my 3rd) and we have to take some tactical carbine classes together.

Put near 200 miles on the Battlewagon's new engine. 300 more to go until it's broken in and I can actually open it up. Hills and stoplights at a 2000 RPM limit with a 1.7L 4 cylinder suck.

Not today but yesterday I put up a security light on my garage as my fiancees car was broken into a couple weeks ago. Next step is extending my security camera system to cover that.

Today I bought a few last minute supplies, (nothing we couldn't live without) in preparation of the coming storm that's supposed to bring wind chills of up to 55 below.

Ordered a vest for protection (stabproof and NIJ II bullet protection) and a pair of stabresitant gloves for my new part time work as a doorman. Better safe than sorry.

Otherwise I used the day to study for my exam on the hunting course I'm taking so I can get a firearms license.
