1) Ordered some Mylar bags, O2 absorbers, and Gamma lids.
2) Added 15 gal of water to the store
3) Started reading Arthur Bradley's "Handbook to Practical Disaster Preparedness for the Family"
4) Started scanning and pdf'ing important docs.
5) Going out to maybe buy a Mr. Heater MH9B for emergency heat.

Oh yeah, and TGIF!

Payed up for and received some essential elements, tripped to the hardware store and snagged the last of clean steel rods for luggage rack fabrication. Drank a few liters of booze to pad the waist a couple mm's. Will give the dog a bath soon, he smells poopy but is still the best ball of friendly fur ever.

Finally got a pretty solid first aid kit that I've attached to my BoB.

Set the girlfriend up with a car overnight bag and first aid kit. Added some food that won't freeze along with some cash/coins in the event she's iced in at her workplace and can't get home, or get to other family member's homes in the area.

Recently had some pretty bad ice here. Many major roads were shutdown as a rash of vehicle accidents were being sorted out.

I had class today and the girlfriend got scheduled to work early, so I drove her in to work since I have the 4wd and the roads are nasty. She works at 5 AM, my class starts at 1 PM. It makes for a long day, but it saves us gas and such.

So I took the opportunity to roll out my MSS and sleep in my car for several hours.

I drive a Chevy Tracker, and with the back seats folded down and a heap of crap in the back approximating a vehicular bug-out load, I determined that I -can- sleep in the vehicle and not wake up exhausted or sore. I woke up a few times, but it was easy enough to fall back asleep...frankly I felt the disturbances served as good opportunity for security checks, and it's comforting that I am easily roused when sleeping in the rig. I can also manage to make room for my bag and crawl my self back there without leaving the vehicle. With some re-organization I could probably sleep lengthwise instead of the funny sideways position I had myself in. I think it will be suitable as a BOV if needed.

20 minutes of exercise and bought inserts for my shoes, since I started exercising I'm having pain in my feet. Over the weekend I cleaned out my prep closet, whole trash can filled with old junk to make room in the floor for the water so it can come down off the shelf. 24L of water stored just there.

Finally did the paperwork to keep my 3rd job (which could be an emergency return ticket to my former rural community). Paperwork is not the fun part of prepping. I'm going to go enjoy myself and organize the pantry so it's not a deathtrap now.

Working my way through Combat Medic Field Reference. Playing phone tag with a hospital about their CPR, first aid courses and certs. Looked for work.

Offered to give my future son in law a ride to work this morning. Asked him to start the Jeep, let it warm up for us. He came back in, and asked me "Before the ass-kicking begins, do you have another key to the Jeep?" Yep, locked the keys in the running car.

Preps-related: Found out that the FD handles lockouts now, not the PD. Learned the non-emergency numbers for the PD and FD. And, as soon as the place opens, I'll be getting a spare key made, because one truly is none when you're on the wrong side of a locked door. Also learned how easy my vehicle can be to break into. :?

Yeah, anyone with a slim Jim and some YouTube skills can learn how to do so. Another reason for keeping stuff hidden and/or locked.
