I did some shooting yesterday with my AR 15, my GP100, and my new-to-me .303 british.

With the carbine, I'm getting better groups (with bulls-eyes!) at 100 yards from prone and crouching with iron sights. I'm also getting the hang of adjusting for elevation. I'm going to find the next Appleseed in my area and check it out, I think.

I'm finally getting the hang of my revolver with repeated bulls-eye groups at about 10 yards. Time to add some distance. Dry fire exercises have been great for learning to maintain control. Need to work on my reload times.

In other news, .303 HURTS. I've got a nice bruise today after running 10 rounds through it. It's a 1941 supreme that I bought as something of a curiosity and a project to clean the stock up (and maybe someday try my hand at re-bluing). Not a top-shelf gun, but its interesting, and I think it'll make a nice 'buddy gun' to arm a relative or close friend if they flee my way from the undead hordes.

Traded my Ingram M10A1 and Browning High Power for two SKS (one original and one thoroughly violated by some mall ninja) and around 1000 rds of 7.62x39.

Did an inventory of the pantry and am proud to say I now have 90 days food for 7 people. Yay!!

Installed the car seat so I can keep track of the baby. Made me realize I need a car that is not a compact, now I just need to convince the wife.

Hubby and I ordered a new passenger headlight for my car. Going to get it installed this weekend. This is something I should have replaced a few years ago. The headlight was cracked but it still worked so I never thought of replacing it. Now the light doesn't work and we had to spend money we don't really have.

But now, if something happens and we have to bug out at least we know we won't get pulled over for a busted light.

Added a team member to the Family Zombie Response Unit.

Convinced my Bro to jump on the prepper bandwagon. The recent tragedies have convinced him that he needs to take his personal safety into his own hands. He's 30 and has never held, much less fired, anything besides a .22 rifle 20 years ago. The paterfamilias and I took him to the range, introduced him to the world of firearm safety, and helped him pick out a G17, plus he bought the .22 conversion kit.

We're going to get a membership at the local range and both get into shooting regularly. We're also looking into some local Krav Maga schools.

He's a nurse, which is a bonus, and our family is big on food storage and the like, so he's starting to get into that as well.

Repacked my preps into one week's worth of food boxes to better fit as storage in my tiny apartment. It has worked out better than I expected.

Met with a friend about joining my little group. He's extremely well trained and experienced militarily, plus growing up in Malasia and Singapore he saw a lot of ways to get by with little (or less). He also brings only two mouths to feed and has his own gear and supplies. Just no-place to go.

That should be of value.

really not a normal prep thing, but after reading about how Mat Honan (wired journalist) got hacked I realized my passwords were weak and beefed them up.
getting hacked these days with everything on the net one way or another, from my identity, tax/gov't-related paperwork, bank/financial stuff, would be a real SHTF.
Mat got hacked by some 19 yo kid who does it for 'fun' (supposedly to educate others on dangers of weak internet security) and priceless memories and irreplaceable data was lost in this, I urge everyone here to examine their passwords and beef them up if nessecary. don't get hacked!

Went up and hung out at the BOL for the night, tested the walkies & found all the spots where we would get clear NOAA reception. Brought all the cats with us too, un-medicated. I now have a slight headache.

Added moleskin and two nitrile gloves to my EDC FAK, added triple antibiotic ointment to my home FAK.

Bought from Amazon:
- Goal Zero Guide 10 Adventure Kit (contains the Nomad 7 panels and the Guide 10 battery charger)
- 100 feet of paracord (in "foliage")
- Light My Fire Firesteel
- Rite in the Rain copier paper for making Get-Home maps (I work 15 miles from home and take the train to commute, so should something go Very Wrong, having a waterproof map of the area wouldn't hurt
- New kitchen scale

Placed an order with my CSA farm for a case of 20 lbs of Roma tomatoes, which I'll pick up Sunday evening - and will be able to pick 10 lbs extra for free. Then I have only until Tuesday evening to can all of them as crushed tomatoes and salsa, before I leave town early Wednesday on a road trip.
