Storm Friday

A storm moved through the area Friday. It wiped out power to half the state. Conserve water notices in some areas. Gasoline shortages where people are buying gas. Stations closing because of no gas. Some stores damaged, some without power. Ice and water selling out. Cell coverage was spotty Saturday - is better today.

We are ok so far. We still have power. I have some water if needed. Gas grill. Mother-in-law stayed the night because she didn't have air conditioning. My dad bought a deep cycle battery and a fan for them. Family came over yesterday for air conditioning. I think they just got their power back on, but are coming over today.

I still have one more pecan tree in my backyard that I want to take down.....I meant to do it last winter when all the leaves were off, but as usual, no time.

The pear tree across the road was full of pears and got "pruned" dramatically... Right out into the road. Friday evening was spent with the neighbors making it smaller and dragging it out of the street.

I'm in WV as well no power since Friday. Finally got enough 3G power to get on line.
More important I'm actually getting to try out skills and gear for what we always talk about, teh Zombie apocalypse!!

Just kidding, this has been an eye opener, and I plan on doing a report soon as we get power and internet.

Can say its not too bad though

I was just saying in the other thread how we have just as many trees fall a couple of days after an event, from the ground being saturated with water, as from the wind during the initial storm.

So far, we still have power, so everything that needs charged has been plugged in.

Reports yesterday of altercations at gas stations. Some gas tankers from PA came today to a few of the stations.

More power seems to be coming back on.

No more, "I can't believe this... I've never had a red X on my phone before!". Or, "I did it again! It says emergency calls only!" Or, "My phone says I have 3 bars, but it won't let me connect to the internet."

No, it won't work - the tower got hit and there are 40,000+ other people trying to call out too.
