When I went through Armor school at Ft. Knox we kept having a problem with the Marine Tanker Trainees using the latrines......then we put up a sign for them saying, "MARINES: PLEASE DON'T EAT THE BIG WHITE MINTS" and the problem stopped. 8)

The original question seems to have been totally desregarded and replaced by name calling that should have been outgrown after bootcamp. Each branch (and even each type of command within each branch) has a different mission and a different approach to the mission. I am not a ground based warrior so I cannot give you details on how the approaches differ but I hope someone can provide balanced insight. I do know from various operations involving Navy SEALs, Marine Force Recon, and Army Special Forces that they each have unique approaches.

I think you missed a few of the posts earlier on where we (Army and Marine Vets) gave each other respect and then added where we derive amusement from busting each others chops with inter-service jokes. Then we started reciting those same jokes

Oh they're smart enough... but remember a Sergeant in the Marine Corps is equivalent to a General in the Army. :P

Settle down, brother. This Jarhead is taking it in the manner in which it's presented - - in the spirit of good fun and camaraderie.

We ARE thread-jacking, though.

HOWEVER, Marines is kewls and army nasties sux!

Eh, couldn't help it...

No they don't. YoU Suckers Missed Christmas.

Other than my Dad being a lifer, no real experience with the Army while I served. Here is one comparison though:

Drunk sailor (me) says: "Too many god-damned Jarheads here!" and I get attacked by 6 Marines.
Drunk sailor (me... again) says: "Too many fuckin zoomies here!" and I'm cordially asked to leave the bar by the bartender.

It's ok, I scratched my head the first time I heard it too...but the rest explains everything.
But it's just not appropriate.

I also debated between Army and Marines back in '86.
The Army guaranteed Basic Training and my secondary training in writing before I enlisted.
The Marines guaranteed Boot Camp.
After I was in the Army I delt with a lot of Marines and personally knew quite a few of them.
The Army will attack, extract, defend, protect, occupy, supply and rebuild.
The Marine job is intended to be assault and defend. Anything else is BS for the Marines.
If you are looking for 2 years of combat training and esprit d' corp afterwards, then the Marines would probably be your best bet. After service Esprit d' corp for the Army comes only if you were in a more elite unit. The saddest day for me was when I dated a girl in the 5th Group, Special Forces and found out that you didn't even have to be Jump School qualed to get the Green Beret.

No, ANGLICO's not really special operations, strictly speaking. Tend to be good guys, though.

They usually drag along a Navy pilot with them, too, so how high-speed can you be when you've got to watch over 'Iceman'. :D

I was a corpsman and used to get farmed out to different units when my platoon wasn't in the field. I got to work with ANGLICO once in South America. We humped in and later that evening I was fucking pissed when those assholes broke out these collapsible one man tents for themselves. Leaving me alone with my shelter half...

Never, ever go out on an "Attached" mission with issued gear like a shelter half. Too damned heavy, no bug protection and nobody in a different unit much less a different service branch, would want to share a gp-tiny with a trooper that they didn't know. We had an unwritten rule in our troop, go buy an extra shelter half kit for "Artep" exercises.
