That depends on how much insider trading they are willing to do. How much advance notice will they give me about the apocalypse before it goes public?

Keep in mind no one could know that they knew. You could not tell your family or friends or anyone. They have been working very hard to look hapless so when the big one hits they will not appear to have any foreknowledge.

I don't see them telling you though. Not until after the PAW when the SEC Harvard MBAs guys are all hitched to a plow trying to grow corn for the local warlord instead of pretending to enforce laws. Because then the laws won't matter.

Eh, the local warlords the SEC guys plow for in the PAW will be the same banksters they carry water for in the NAW.
(I know that sounds like politics but it's really just cheap cynicism I promise. There's not a "cheap cynicism" rule is there?)
But I bet Martha Stewart will rule the wasteland.

Shhhh!!! Don't give it away.

Being Martha Stewart in the PAW? There is opportunity right there. Someone is going to need to know how to arrange rehydrated flowers in a vase, make it pretty and taste good too.

I'm thinking Irrigation, sewage and reclamation. "Villages" will need a way to bring in good water, pipe out the bad water and turn the bad water into serviceable water for crops. So a well driller/digger, plumber kind of person could do well for himself and his crew. Maybe go from town to town getting things right then have a man on hand at each town to keep it going.
Of course there would be a need for energy to do the pumping, so solar and wind systems would be added to the mix.
One could become the new Friendly Neighborhood Utilities Baron.

I wasn't quite laughing. When there's nothing left to eat but Alpo and mutant rat carcass, the person who can make it appetizing will be a gorram hero. Home economics seems like a fluff course in times of plenty, but in a subsistence economy - it can become life and death. A touch of Martha's latent ruthlessness might be necessary as well.

So, yeah, I was kidding, but it's only funny because there's a grain of truth to it.

I know.
If our family were in the same financial straits as when I was a kid, we would manage much better.
Especially as regards to food.
My mother was a great cook; however I can make a string of just as tasty, but more nutritious meals from a lot less than she had.

Venture capitalist. . .

Provide capital so others can start business, then take 10%-20% ownership in return.

What do you consider 'capital'?
Paper money backed by a government that failed?

Hey, what about our "assless chaps and hockey mask" venture we talked about in the "What would your ideal PAW job be" thread. :?

And if it's a ZPAW, there was the idea of "zombie wrangler", so we could hook them up to treadmills for generating electricity, and pull plows for sowing crops. Doc was gonna use 'em to pull freight.

Such as? Gold? Silver? I suppose they may still have some value in the PAW.

But I can't help but picture you "loaning" someone a couple of chickens. Then they trade the chickens for an old foot operated sewing machine, that they use to make some new clothes. Then they barter the clothes to someone else in exchange for some......eggs. :ooh:
