scratch in the P.A.W.

after the zombacalypse money as we know it will be usless. credit cards will be so many lock picks, and checks will be the markings on the wall for how many zombies you killed today.

so...what would be a good thing to stock up on now so as to have good stuff for trade in the future.

amuntion - good but common at first. also heavy and wont last forever.

heavy plastic trash bags. - can be used for almost anything and will last forever.

MRE - realy good at first but bulky and will go quickly

lets make a list.
ready?........GO!

I guess it just depends on how far into the PAW you're talking. Anything that's valuable is usually going to be valuable to you. Unexpired meds will eventually be pretty valuable I would imagine. But why would you want to give them up unless you had to?

So you have to think about what other prople will want that you won't really need.

If you're on the run for example, you could scavange seeds. They might be worth something to someone who's holing up, but you're not in one place long enough to think about growing anything.
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices, to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own...

i think coffe would be great.

ghostface your right about not wanting to give up stuff you could use but what would you get if you could get lots of it now? i mean how much friggin asprin does one guy need? like ammo. i need lots but i dont need a million rounds. of course i dont have a million rounds either so mute point but you know what i mean....

have to agree with Badseed.

Civil war soldiers traded for it, people will in the future as well. Coffee and tobaco always trade well.

Having a useful skill will allow you to barter. If you can fix stuff, you can trade that service for goods and services you don't have. Trading food will work as well.

Batteries. Flashlight bulbs. Nails. Quilts. Winter clothing. Sneakers and boots. Socks. Water filters. Cooking oil. Oil lamps. Kotex. Hydrogen peroxide. Asthma medicine. Suppliments for diabetics. Clean syringes. Sandpaper. Surfboards. Glue. Cement. Skin lotion. Perfume. Soap. Granola and trail mix. Caffiene pills. Nyquil. Sleeping bags. Backpacks. Toothpaste and toothbrushes. Dental floss. Sheet metal.

You'd have to shift around your inventory as different seasons come in. Dried oranges would sell better in North Nevada during December than in August when people can't grow themselves.

In non-coastal areas, iodized salt would be a good thing to trade.

Motor oil, brake fluid and spare parts for places that maintain a fleet of vehicles.

If a P.A.W in this country lasts longer than three years and we're not seeing any villages or outposts coming up anywhere, we don't need to bother with money. We're already dead.

On the other hand, maybe someone should make a thread about the official Zombie Squad mercantile caravan. Takes bling to make bling.

I like the idea of scratching the whole fiat based monetary system. It'll be good to trade things of actual value.

i had this idea when i got bored and threw a cheap gold braclet in the forge buy a lot of cheap gold jewlery melt it down and cast crude coins with it gold is in my opinion the most tradeable metal on earth it would definetly come in handy if you need to barter for something

P.S.
for any one young or stupid enough to do this with items you got from friends or parents dont use your moms/dads/friends jewlery i warn you and take no responsibility for your actions

Definitely: tobaco, batteries, weapons, ammo, drugs(illegal and legal), medical supplies, etc.
Stuff you might trade for if you were in prison....XD
Similar, no? Even soap-on-a-rope might be helpful. But, less gang rape, please...

Oh god. Please not the gang rape thread again.....

A relative of mine who did some time says they trade pepsi a lot in prison. So, take a cube with you. Never know what someone will give you for a Mountain Dew.

I was thinking about that. Not just for the caffeine, but the psychological value in giving people a taste of the old life. Might go flat after its expiration date though.

A carbonation machine would make us rich, methinks.
