Fighting monsters in the mist.
Anyone ever seen the movie 'The Mist'?
If you haven't. I'ts about group of people stuck in a store trying to fight off alien/monsters/demons, that come from a rift created by the military, that belches out thick white fog that covers a small town. Some of the monsters are blue-whale big and some are yellow lab small, all are really fucking nasty.
So the situation is: you wake up and your home is cover in fog and mean ass monsters are outside trying to get in to turn you and you family into protein. Wudda do?

In a situation like that, my flight instincts would override my fight. I'd probably hit the basement and lock up behind me, I'd try to ride things out and only attempt to leave under dire circumstances. Don't screw with the unknown.

Yup hammer the hatches down and lock and load.
Anything coming through any door or window had better identify themselves quickly as it would be a hail of 00 buckshot first and no hello, there is no way I am going to endanger my family in any way at all.

I'd crank up my large industrial size dehumidifiers, dry up that misty ass crap them thar yellow bellied demon freaks are hidin' behind and open up on them an extra large can of grade A American whoop ass.
In other words, I'd be the stupid comic relief that gets killed off in the first 15 minutes. Someone else will be the plucky-yet-resourceful teenager who figures out the invader's hidden weakness. (Bubble wrap. There isn't an alien species this side of the Crab Nebula that can resist a pristine piece of bubble wrap.)

I'd let em in the front door. As they pour into the fatal funnel I'd light em up. Probably gonna die anyway.

Re: Fighting monsters in the mist.
I'll have my Mossberg 500 ready for any of the mist creatures that I can shoot with it such as the flying bird like creatures that eat the smaller insects. I don't see them getting in to be honest with you, but I would try and board up the Windows or at least block them but it would be hard to do.
As far as shooting is concerned, the majority of my ammo is in my car but I don't believe I would really have to fire a shot. If they get in I'm probably fucked anyway considering they have those spiders.

In response to the comment right above it. Didn't really think I needed to explain that one throughmajorhavoc wrote:?????Niblick wrote:Say it with me now; "not for profit charitable organization." Weirdo.

I seriously still don't understand it, Niblick. Why don't you just spell it out?Niblick wrote:In response to the comment right above it. Didn't really think I needed to explain that one throughmajorhavoc wrote:?????Niblick wrote:Say it with me now; "not for profit charitable organization." Weirdo.
FYI: If you want to make an offhand remark directed to a specific post other than OP's, generally a good idea to use the quote function.

Re: Fighting monsters in the mist.
To wit, smoking crack and masturbating was not an appropriate response. Embrace, next time stick with mostly-naked pictures of men in tactical gear, turtles, or or discussions about purchasing a motorized pirate ship. Honestly, the nerve of you to suggest that we masturbate?
Can we go back on topic or drop it? A PM earlier would have saved us 4 posts. Five if you count this. I know PMs don't increase your post count, but they often work.

If the question had been about coming up with a sequel, it might have been.Doc Torr wrote:To wit, smoking crack and masturbating was not an appropriate response.

Still, illegal drugs are illegal. And whack.

OT, I'll shelter-in-place, and hope the Arizona sun will scorch that mist and those critters PFQ, at which point I'll deride and insult their nasty monster corpses for not being able to stand the dry heat.

I'd probably give "Ia Ia Cthulhu Fhtagn!" a try, multiple times over a loud speaker...see if I can get on their good side.

In the movie at the end; doesnt the guy shoots his family then goes to kill himself then here come the army? Didnt see that in forever. I'd stay in the house and give every one in the house a gun.

Kill it with fire, or nuke it from orbit. Since my shuttle is in the shop, I'll stick with killing it with fire.

The heavy fog I'm used to. As for the big nasty critters, I guess I'd finally get to use my .375 Ruger.

Fly above that mist, use Whirlwind to clear it away, and roast the monsters with Flamethrower. It's super effective
