Part of the problem is that now all the female clones look and act like Rosie O'Donnell. Good luck with that. I think the human race is doomed

I would bring my favorite gun and some ammo, and some clothes. Oh, and some stuff I'd imagine would grow in value between now and then.

Eh, I'm not so worried. There could be an entire culture formed from my exploits in the twentieth and twenty-first century. I might even be able to hitch a ride back in a time bubble with nothing more than a silly ring as a memento.

To those who think they will be rich. Do you really think our present day money/stocks/coinage/land would be viable? The same companies will not exist. (except Google) I would bring some pants. And some bacon.

Set of clothes, including boot. Titanium sheet (or other eternal metal) with a picture of my wife laser etched onto it. Other sheets of the same metal with documentation etched onto it, including the Constitution, Bill of Rights, property deeds and the no tax paperwork. One third of the remaining room would be filled with assorted packages of heirloom seeds. Another third would be filled with various precious metals in the form of coins with collectors value (silver\gold coins from Rome, ancient china, modern day, etc)

Any remaining room, I fill up with bottle caps, just because...

As I step into the pod, I'm putting a mylar space blanket, a high capacity ipod with pics, music and such on it, and a length of paracord in my mouth.. I'll spit them out when the door opens.

Before I go, make sure I put in documentation of my bank accounts, maybe buy some stocks and put hard copy's of stock certificates.

At great expense and energy, we have sent for you. The human race is in peril. An alien species has been systematically destroying organic human life throughout the galaxy.

Our warfighting devices are keyed to only work with full biological human entities - thus, hybrids such as myself cannot operate warfighting implements more complex than a knife or club. My programming denies me the ability to change this.

Jor-el, father of Superman, we have read of your child's exploits. Much literature remains of his history on earth. We hope his traits are genetic.

The 8th member, LowKey, did not survive the journey. As best as we can tell, he received a high speed lead / copper implant before departure. We suspect a failed jewelry piercing. The sample has been moved to the hospice ward to attempt reanimation. Should the reanimation be successful, he will be a biomechanical hybrid. The damage is too great to retain biological purity.

My programming requires that I offer biological entities a choice in embarking on a dangerous event. Think of it as a fourth of Asimov's three laws.

Do you wish to fight the alien menace, or do you wish to return to your time?"

If you want to stay, gather your buckets and describe your ideal fighting machine(s).

If you want to return, say so. The disembodied voice indicates that this will be very painful, but survivable.
Don't worry, I am from the internet.

The only thing that fits in your time capsule is a very naked you.

Your experience in the time capsule will be the door closing, a bright light, and the door opening. The rest of the world will advance while you are away. The contents of your bucket will age and deteriorate while you are away. You have an unlimited budget. You have promises of extra supplies stored, and promises of a crew present at your arrival site. There is no information or guarantee if they actually are there at your arrival site. You are effectively traveling blind.

Oh by the way - now that you know of the project, you will go or you will disappear and someone sent in your place.

If you knew you were going to jump 1000 years into the future, but had no knowledge of the other side except that you and a 5 gallon bucket will make it, what will you put in it?

Never leave home without some Sunstone crystal. Used one shard to build the Fortress. A few more could reproduce the battleships that forged our ancient empire. You didn't think we just explored those 28 known galaxies, did you? Try to hook up with Vril Dox, Garth or Imra, among other friends of my son.

I'll also have to dig up the calculations for temporal distortions involving gravity wells. That whole "spin the world backwards and turn back time" thing.

I'd put at least a small copy of the Statue of Liberty in the bucket, so at least the Apes know what it was supposed to look like.

I don't even know what kind of stuff would last for 1000 years. I'll toss in my Ray Bans though. No matter what I'll face, at least I'll look good.
