Posting Pictures on Zombie Squad

You cannot cut and paste pictures directly onto the Zombie Squad Forums. Instead, you must provide a link to your photos.

Here's one method:

Make a free account at www.photobucket.com

Upload images into photobucket.

Copy the link that begins with IMG (should be fourth under your uploaded image)

Paste here in a reply window.

Blam! Photos on ZS in 5 minutes for free.

Or you can follow same method using www.imageshak.com or www.flikr.com or any other number of free picture hosting services.

We frown on hotlinking here (pasting a picture's address between two IMG tags without first hosting it yourself) so take a second or two and make a free account and you'll be set.

how do you resize an image with the BBCode on ZS? I've seen many variations of code to do this on other forums, but none of them work here:

[img w=400 h=300]

[img width=400 height=300]

Disabling BBCode and using the html command of <img src=> doesn't work either.

photobucket does an auto-resize to 800x600. They even provide a cut/paste with the [img]stuff[img]. They do well on videos too, and even provide a preview photo.

flickr provides links to various sizes of your photos.

thanks, phil_in_cs. but I don't use either of those services. I share a server space for personal use. I can do the work around of having 2 image sizes and linking to the larger, but doing it in code is easier and faster.

faster and easier if this bbs software allows for it, anyway. This hasn't supported all BBCode I've tried. Both services are free, and have drag/drop tools to push files out.

Sometimes images show up in posts correctly. No prob.

Sometimes _the very same image_ or _the very same post_ will return an image placeholder like this:

...instead of actually displaying the image.

A host of issues from your browser failing to load the image properly, to the image being broken at the source to someone being cute and typing "Image" and chuckling while you hit F5 over and over.

9 times out of ten, hitting F5 (refresh) will solve this issue.

If you host over at Image Shack, you can either use their ready-made BBCode postings or do what I do and put up the thumbnail image and link the bigger pic. The thumbnail pic will actually put the original's dimensions on it which is nice. You don't need to copy the thumbnail url, just add ".th" in front of the extension for the image you're using.

For example, today, I posted my fleet number sticker I'm working on. It's a big pic (1472x368). I used the following code:

I can't get the forum to recognize the size of my pictures on picassa, any advice?

I had the same problem on Picasa. After playing around with it I found that when you're on the piscasa page of the image you want, you have to tick the box that says 'Image only (no link)' and then copy and paste the 'Embed Image' link between the [img] tags on ZS Forum. You can also change the size of your image using the 'Select size' dropdown.

Hey guys..I tried uploading some pics of my weapons in the firearms section titled "hot or not"...it refused to publish my photo bucket pics saying "we were unable to determine the size of the pics" or something...

Tons of people on this forum use Photobucket to host their inline images everyday. I can assure you that the problem is that you're not using the proper URL to link to it.

Photobucket should have a few lines under your photo telling you what URL and tags you need to use to statically hotlink to the picture. I looked last night, and it had the [ img ] tags as well as the < img src> tags premade. Just look at the picture in photobucket, then use the code they provide to statically link to it.

Use the highlighted option, not the HTML or direct links. That builds the bbcode tags in for you.

Look at the post right above yours from phil_in_cs. Click the yellow part in the pic you want to use, then come here and paste it into your thread or reply. Hit the preview button and you can see if it worked.

There's an 800x600 limit to photos here, to keep things a bit easier to read. You can either get pb to resize the photo (I have it set to auto-resize on upload) or you can use pb's thumbnail option. That posts a 120x120 version that is linked to the full size one on pb.

The first option usually works best.
