Lots of restaurant stuff when I was younger.

Been the care-giver for an autistic man for the last 14 years. Hes a good guy and will probably be with our family for life. He goes to a day program weekdays which is when I do my hobby business. I service 30 aquariums for businesses and private residences.
Those suckers bite hard!

I'm also running my own local e-zine for Columbus, OH called TheOuterBelt.com and doing website design stuff on the side.

I’m a social worker and I am finishing my Masters in Human Services in December so hopefully I will one day be a higher paid social worker. I don’t do it for the money but the higher designations sure would ease the pinch at the end of the month. I wanted to get my Master’s so I could afford to move and study law in another state; we’ll see.

My undergrad is in business and I am currently working on a business plan and market analysis / marketing plan on an idea that I have shared with a couple of successful friends. I value their opinion and their appraisal has encouraged me to follow through with my idea.

I’ve been (in chronological order):

An interpreter (Spanish)
Inventory Manager for a DCJ Dealer
Car Salesman (in Texas and in NC)
Retail Sales
Missionary (3 years in Rio Bravo, MX)
Auto Tech Instructor for a small Community College in my home town.
Retail Auto Parts sales

Currently I am a "Quality Manager" at a machine shop, I spend most of my time at a desk, with ISO stuff.

I have experience as:

-a cook, McD's(first job) and a high-class dinner joint(real cooking).

-excavator, concrete finisher, carpenter, dry-waller, roofer, insulator, plumber, landscaper, demolition-er, and at least some experience in almost any "construction" task.

-Manual and CNC mills & CNC CMM operator.

-Rifleman/Squad leader, trained by Uncle Sam

-have been paid to drive everything from four-wheelers to eighteen-wheelers, skid loaders to full sized excavators.

A lot of experiance, considering I'm in my twenties.

Ball diamond setup crew for a city park
Police Cadet for local PD

Loss Prevention for Sears
Private Investigator and Process server (still doing that on the side)
Security for the same company as above (still doing that on the side too)
Security for Pissant inc. (not really, but crappy company that I left when they started bouncing checks)

Currently:
Security for a "fantastic" casino in town... fun...

Future?
Hopefully a police dispatch job in a nearby town. After I get back in a shape other than round, a career as a LEO or Active Duty Air Force

Civil and Structural Design Drafter.

Area of work includes concrete bridges, foundations of all kinds, design/build building development, commercial bldgs, multi-residence bldgs, industrial-anything, offshore oilfield design, onshore oilfield support design, communication towers, tower crane foundations and tie ins, some residential structural consultation, precast concrete product design, and uh... I guess that about covers it. We're a bit of engineering whores, as the boss once told me in my interview years back. We like variety.

* HVAC Company - Laborer
* Construction Company - Laborer
* KMart - Stocker
* Family Owned Restaurant - Bus Boy
* VCR Repair Shop - Everything
* Rear Projection TV Deliveryman
* Whirlpool Factory - Everything
* Industrial Palette Manufacturer - Everything
* Survey Crew Member - Rodman
* Lumber Jack - Swung Axe

1997-2003

* Intern Graduate Architect

2003-Current

* Architectural Dept Manager in an Architectural/Engineering/Survey/Construction Management Company

My grandfather owned a Construction Company (General Contractor); my uncle owned a Painting Company; and (one of) my stepfather's owned a HVAC / Plumbing Company....so it was a foregone conclusion that I'd do something in the building trades.

Starting in 1984 I worked for $0.25 an hour bending sheet metal for ductwork for my stepfather. I now design commercial and light industrial buildings as well as manage large developments (Project Manage the design of complete campuses, etc)...for a little more than $0.25 an hour :lol:.

I figured it would be interesting to find out who does what for a living here... It would be good to know what type of professional skills everyone has here. That way, we can direct some professional questions to appropriate people. Please try to stick to a easy to read format. I will sound off:
  • Current Profession: IT Manager / Programmer / Network Engineer
    Responsibilities: Manage a small IT department in my company. Programming, Web Development, Server / Routers, Firewalls administration, etc
    Experience: 14 years

    Previous Profession: Jewelry Sales
    Responsibilities: Sales
    Experience: 5 years
