A few hundred would hardly be noticed here. Unless they set up camp and don't leave.

The Charlotte-focused group is saying to their people to refuse money gifts from supporters and ask instead for food, toiletries, cigarettes, etc. They are requesting that someone donate a generator!
Mostly not here anymore.

There was one in Tampa yesterday as well. The article didn't state the size of the crowd, but it looks like these little demonstrations are popping up all over the place

http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/o ... rn/1195491

Oh, Dallas too................
http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/politics/Pro ... 23449.html

ETA: Just for the hell of it I googled Occupy North Carolina. I found this website.........................
http://www.occupynorthcarolina.com/
Scroll to the bottom and there are over 100 cities listed that are holding demostrations.

I ran into the protest in NOLA. I counted about 200 the local paper says 300. It was more like a parade than a march. The police stopped traffic for them and it took one light cycle for the whole group to pass. They were chants of "we are the 99". Lets see if they are the 99% then there are 3 people somewhere causing them grief (300/.99=303-300=3).

Non-violent demonstrations are great, I hope they stay that way.

We had up an estimated 10,000 for the march. Not sure of accuracy but from the ivory tower I work in it did look huge. They've occupied the park block "park", and that looks more reasonable at around 1000 people coming and going with about half that "occupying", and have completely blocked off the main route of my bus to get to work. The detour is about 10 minutes of time. So far they owe me about 40 minutes. They were ordered to leave the park by 0900 today and last I saw (0800) they are pretty well dug in. May get a riot today. I'm nice and safe up in my ivory tower. I'll make sure to light cigars made by children with $100 bills while they get all crazy down there, it's what fat cats do y'know :)

I do have my work BOB, so that's something. If I was not trying to save up PTO for Xmas I would've just taken the day off. Others here have. The evil fat cats at my firm are pretty good at listening to the downtown grapevine and will have no problems shutting things down and helping us get home ... because they are evil and want to suck our souls I guess

If (God forbid) the protests turned into a L.A. riot in your area (which I don't foresee) what is your plan? Bug out? Bug in? Doing it solo, group, mini community?

Bug in. Minus the Slayer. Review insurance policies for the various rentals. If they throw molotovs we might make out ok...

Well I tried. I can only be left to assume no plans. Protests were in Knoxville, no idea if the Nashville protest happened yet or not. The Knoxville protest gave a lot of thumbs up to the Knoxville Police Dept for helping it run smooth. Granted it was slated for a one day event, with other days to comer. No talk of camping or anything like that.

Phoenix is actually supposed to have one of these on the 15th. I don't live anywhere near it but I am working that day and don't know where my route will take me right now. I suspect that Sheriff Joe is prepared to meet said protesters with a rather enthusiastic response should they step out of line. Hopefully they won't Mesa with any of the banks or any other of our customers.

Keeping up on intel via Occupy Portland website, this is where the "organizers" post their General Assembly notes and make comments and leave information and such online. I read it because I am a downtown worker and I like to know what their plans are. Those of you directly affected by the occupiers in your own city can probably find some kind of FB page or website of your own.

As the corporations they rail against do there is a lot of fact hiding, spinning, talking points, and straight-up untruths being bandied about. A semi-intelligent person can go through the scanned GA notes and figure out what the real issues are though. Some of my posts asking reasonable questions and raising reasonable concerns regarding hygiene and security have been pulled off the PDX Facebook page. These same questions are not fielded on the website either - accept supporters calling me names or saying my concerns are over-ridden by the "importance of the issues that Occupy Portland has." I've also been called a troll.

I tend to not think that 600 people indefenietly camping in a park downtown without a place to shit is not important. They are expecting charity from us actually - that is part of the plan, it was rasied as a point in the GA notes from Friday night's General Assembly.

The only possibility of a riot I see, is that of a Police Riot. Ala 68 in Chicago.

Oh, I could see the Arizona protests getting ugly if Joe Arpaio has his way. I think part of him is salivating at the idea of getting to crack heads on some hippies. :|

Charity from those they revile? Pretty brassy.

Classic answer I often see is 2 Thessalonians 3:10 no work, no eat. Certainly an answer that has been areound for some time.
Don't know if stricly aplies to these "protesters" - but I agree with your take on camping without sanitary facilites. Perhaps some of the nearby businesses will allow them to use their - oh wait....

Sheriff Joe handled all the "immigration" marches and protests pretty well from what I remember This march should not be a big deal so long as the protesters do what they said they were going to.

So far, things have been really low-key in Charlotte, the 2nd largest banking center in the country. A small and polite group of campers, some additional folks who show up at drive time with some candidate signs, and a congenial police department. Seems the only people getting their dander up are the cranks on the local newspaper forum. It could grow, but this city still has a lot of affection for Bank of America, a hometown industry that put us on the map and facilitated pro sports, arts centers, and community development. The BOA hate here is pretty muted.
Mostly not here anymore.

I think it would be funny if BoA, here, donated a bunch of tubes of hand sanitizer to the camp. My firm uses BoA so maybe I can suggest something here like that this week. Doing our best to protect dowhtown from disease and such. Gotta keep the Occupy'ers healthy so they can look good on TV and claim things are fine and dandy and children friendly and chase away anyone asking questions that really matter.

Local OPB/NPR reported this morning that warnings and then citations will be handed out to Occupy'ers for breaking park ordinances regarding camping and blocking the street.

ETA: Another funny thing to note is that the GA notes posted this weekend on their website shows they are just realizing they are camped in the park that is between the Police station and County Court House. Some say they planned this while other organizers are asking "who planned this?"

EDITED FOR CLARITY:

Monday night. Protest camp in Boston shut down by police. Hundreds arrested. Reports of protestors and police injured and attacked.

Heavy police presence in Seattle, St. Louis, Dallas, Atlanta and other major U.S. cities, but NO shutdown has happened in those places.

You know, I didn't see Congress push Wells Fargo into making a new five dollar monthly fee on all accounts. They are protesting the right yutzes.

Screw it. I'll take it to PM. This is for breaking news only.

This did not happen in Dallas. They are still there through Friday at least. There are only 50 at the Dallas site.

It's all confusing. Twitter reported San Francisco's protest getting shut down, but they're still there.

EDIT: Appears that Boston has been the only one raided. I'll change my original post to reflect that.
