Crows have been associated with death for hundreds of years. They eat carrion.
So "clown" is out.

Well, technically zombies have entertained the people since the first zombie movie and the first real zombie game. So "clown" could work, as clowns have entertained for much longer than that.

I think clowns are pretty scary. All the make-up's probably to hide their decomposing faces.

Not to mention that there have been plently of clowns in Romero movies. I might have imagined it, but wasn't there a clown in Day (and possibly one in Dawn)?

My group and I have been calling a 'grouping' of the Undead a "Plague".

What's in a name...

Postby str8razer » Mon Jul 04, 2005 2:27 pm

I don't know about the smaller groups, but a fitting name for 144 zombies would be a "gross".

Just stating the obvious.

Well why not call them something that comes straight to our heads when we see lots of zombies, such as, "OH HOLY F***K!"

In my presence, it would probably be a "shitload."

As for clowns, I agree. They tend to be scary or plain fricken annoying (like The Inane Clown Penises a.k.a ICP).

I'm thinking stenchers for a couple, stagger for a dozen, shamble for around two dozen, and horde for fifty or more. We could have a cemetery for several hundred zombies.

I like cemetery:

Some random survivor: Kyle, what do you see up there?

From his position on top of the building, Kyle sees a lot of zombies heading their way.

Kyle yells: We have to evacuate now, there is a cemetery of zombies coming!!

you could always refer to the zombies as asshole neighbors for the individuals, a neighborhood watch for like 5-10 the PTA for 11-20, girl scout jamboree for 21-50 and a law firm for 50-100 and whatever you consider a big scary group people who you consider no better than the undead for 100+.
Or whatever local orginizations/people that annoy you from time to time and whatnot.

Scout1: Okay, we got two neighborhood watches to the North
Scout2: We have a Girl Scout Jamboree to the West
Scout3: Looks like a lawfirm is having a meeting with the local PTA South of here
Scout4: Just a couple asshole neighbors to the East.

Here at ZS we strive to keep the line between the living and the dead clear. With that said I think giving them names that we would use for those who are living is, a bad idea.

I put my vote in for stagger and rage. by the way, you dont have to say "a stagger of zombies"; just "a stagger" will do.

For individuals, I will use "shambler" for slow ones and "ghoul" for the fast ones.

And for the record, I like "shamble".

Stagger is good for a group, rage would be nice for fast ones if they're fast (hope not). If I saw one, I'd just say "one", I think everyone would know what I was talking about in said situation. The term "fuckload" or "assload" or "shitload" will never die though.

hmm. How about a scourge of Zombies?

A stagger of zombies is 2-4

A shamble is 5-7

A pack of zombies is 8-11

A rage is 12-20

A horde is 20-40

A scourge of zombies is 41-80

A carrion of zombies could be any number above a hundred.

A doom is any group that exceeds any understanding of an amount of zombies.

I think this works quite well.

It might just be me, but I have the feeling that they might just be called a "bunch" or "group".

As in "There is a bunch of zombies over here" "There is a group of zombies over there"
