I don't know how to say this any other way than to just do it. HK passed away around 7:20 this evening. He was doing better and then suddenly had a heart attack. They tried to revive him, but were unsuccessful. I was with him when it happened, and they say he didn't suffer.

The sadness that myself, his family and many friends feel is beyond words. You were all his brothers and a part of his extended family - he cared about you all, and got more than a few good laughs when I read him your posts.

We will be having a memorial service at our local gun range sometime this week. I will let you all know the date, and if you could make it out to your range to shoot your biggest, baddest gun that would be great. I can't think of a better way to put that awesome grin on his face, wherever he is.

EDIT: I am a dumbass.

Damn...

I apologize for my previous post and again send out my deepest and sincerest condolences...

I guess it is just so hard to accept that any human life is so fragile and easily taken away...

I wish I was joking. Even I'm not that sick. Thanks for your good wishes.

No offense, but that was kind of an asshole thing to say. I love that man more than life itself. I would have killed and died for him - there is no way in HELL that I would ever even THINK about saying something so awful.

It is a shock, it happened suddenly. We are waiting on an autopsy - this isn't right. The whole thing screams negligence - those assholes killed my baby. I won't rest until I find justice for my man.

Yea I'm Gonna take out my Dragunov in his honor and Shoot some Zombie targets. :)

Jen I don't know if there is anything I can do or say that could help, I don't think there is.

But I sorta know how ya feel. I lost both of my parents around last Thanks Giving and Christmas last year. I was very close to them.

I'm gonna have to have a really long and serious talk with the almighty about this for ya.

I'm gonna fire 21 shots for him.

We'll be at the range on friday. I may not be able to attend your service. But I'll fire many rounds in honor of HK33K.

I'm so sorry. I have no words expressive enough to convey my sympathy to you and HKs family. He will be in my thoughts and this weekend I will head to the range and pop some caps in his name.

People do not die for us immediately, but remain bathed in a sort of aura of life which bears no relation to true immortality but through which they continue to occupy our thoughts in the same way as when they were alive. It is as though they were traveling abroad. ~Marcel Proust

I'm so sorry to hear that, Jen.

I didn't interact with HK on the forums too much, but I did send him a few PMs asking about various firearms questions. He was always super quick in getting back to me and always very nice and patient, even if it was a dumb question about something pretty basic. It was evident that he would have been an awesome guy to have as a friend.

He will be greatly missed here by all.

I'm stunned and saddened. You and his family have my condolences.

I'm going to miss him around here and I can only imagine the loss the people who know him in real life are feeling.

I too was hoping this was a sick joke, but it sadly is not. Life and death are inclusive of one another. Without death, life has no beauty as it does not have an urgency to it. The need to go out and see what this mortal coil has to offer to those willing to seek.

Every second could be your last, every breath can be the last that will fill your lungs, and every heartbeat can be the one that ends it all. This shouldn't be scary, it should be a challenge to get out and explore the beauty of the world. A quiet day in the woods, a tranquil meditation by a brook, or even just walking in your neighborhood and seeing the wonders of the world that is contained even in the smallest line of ants.

We mustn't focus on death as a monster hiding in our closets, under our beds or lurking at us behind every dark corner. We must instead enjoy the life we have here and now. HK seemed to do that. It is unfortunate that he is gone but I believe he would have wanted us to live our lives to the fullest.

It is good that we humans have so many dualities, joy and grief, happy and sad, humor and despair, calm and anger, laughter and tears. These dualities make us experience life to its fullest. Now is the time to mourn for HK, he will be surely missed. Later, it will be the time to look back and smile fondly of the memories we shared with him.

He will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace HK.

Jen, I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to post a link to this thread over in the Firearms forum. I think most of the people here who knew Pat on this site will have a better chance of seeing it over there.
