Along with some ZS shwag I purchased, I get the little ZS business cards -- class act -- and I'm thinking 'this would be a great bookmark.'

So I'm at the local bookstore that I frequent, and it dawns on me to leave the cards in copies of The Zombie Survival Guide!

:D ^

I got one of my friends to almost mainly talk about zombies, even in malls he asks which store would be the best to hide in if zombies attacked, i normally respond The Mac Store why would a zombie want to go into there.

(I like macs but the mac store is designed by the devil and the employees don't even know how to spell Computer let alone give information or specs on any of the computers they have in there for the life of them)

Haha, this should be fun. I usually say little things about things I do, like games, TV, books, etc.
My friend expects the world to go to hell in a hand basket, and we always talk about this kind of stuff anyways.

Just handed out two of the business cards, the people seemed really excited, so let's see if they post here this evening!

No one I hand cards to posts. Oh well. I gave a card to this cool old guy who shopped at the shoe store I work at, we talked for a long time about REI and camping and such, he bought some cold weather boots. Gave one out to this girl I know who works at the local game store, left a stack on the counter there, gave one to the lady behind the counter at the costume shop after we talked about zombies for a while. She seemed interested, everyone else, not so much.

So what has everyone else done recently?

I think my parents are going to have me commited and desensitized. It seems like everytime I talk to them it ends up being about zombies. They think I'm nuts.

I was telling my dad about that I'm going to build a steel home (steelmasters.com check out the model Q and picture it with a giant ZS logo painted on the side of it... that's going to be my house), and were talking about energy conservation. I'm telling him how I can build this place for about $6 a square foot and all the various benifits of the structurs shape and finish the whole discussion off with, "...and most importantly the whole thing will be completely zombie proof." Amazingly he said it sounds like a great idea... though he may have only said that because he was afraid I would have some sort of break down.

Then I'm talking to my mom about this article that was linked at www.sjgames.com about these mice that can regrow severed limbs and damaged organs. The whole article was amazing. These mice that underwent this gene therepy treatment could regrow fully functional limbs and organs, but could not regrow damaged brain tissue. So I finish the conversation with, "...but the mice cannot regrow brain tissue... which I assume is why you have to shoot zombies in the head." She just rolled her eyes and walked away. I thought it was a logical connection...

I spread the word and I wasn't even there. My friend works at the local Blockbusters and served a guy renting a zombie flick. My friend comments on how scary that shit is and the guy calmly replies,
"Yeah. Me and my girlfriend just had to move because we lived opposite a graveyard and I wasn't sleeping. I was just sat at my window with my gun till dawn. Apparently I was scaring people."
My friend just replies,
"No shit. I've got someone you need to meet."

Alrighty, so this thread is likely dead and rotting by now, but heck....

I did my homework without even realizing it! Yesterday, I actually got to work early. Yes, that is a shocker. I'm always right on time - never, ever early, thanks to the buses. Anyway....

Sitting in the back, I'm reading the Zombie Survival Guide (most delicious Xmas gift ever), munching on leftover cookies, minding my own business. One of my co-workers walks up and comments that I look like a biker chick. After snorting on said cookies, I laugh and reply that the look goes with the book (and hold it up). This started a half-hour conversation (yes, we were both late to start work) about the upcoming zombie uprising and how to survive it. And she really got into it. And then borrowed my book.

The kicker is that she's 76 years old, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Corondelet, and we both work for the St. Louis Symphony.

I've also got my boss talking zombies with me. We had a nice hour-long conversation about it and ZS the other day. :D
They haven't found a way to kill me yet.

Postby Cool as a Chicken » Tue Jan 03, 2006 5:17 pm

The people I have talked to about this think I'm nuts too, but...
I was working on a book about the appropriate response to a Z-PAW (before I knew of the existence of this site, or the book by Mr. Brooks), and asked a former co-worker (who happens to do terrorism research for the government, but who I've been forbidden -- by her -- to ever identify her by title or name) what she thought the government's response to such an outbreak would be. She gave me a fairly detailed and thoughtful answer, provided me with links and articles, etc. re weapons, containment devices for infected persons, and so on.
All that was pretty cool, except she kept referring to them as "zoomies," for some reason. Of course, she seemed to have no idea what a zombie was until I explained it to her.

I think that's kinda cool actually.
We should all start calling them "zoomies". It can be our code word. :D
