From what I have read zombies have no intellect. Their sole purpose is to seek prey. They have no higher level brain function.

How would a zombie approaching a house know its weak points? If they have no memory from their previous life, how would they know what a door was or a window They would attack all points equally.

Literature and movies show them attacking doors and windows but why?
Wouldn't they equally exert their energy against walls.

Zombies attacking weak ponts would indicate intellingence. If they have none, simply camoflouging entrance points would fool them.

Interesting (well, maybe not, but I'm tired, so it seems interesting).
My guess is that they would be attacking a stucture because they saw someone go in a door and/or saw someone through a window. Therefor they'd go for the doors and windows while still following the simple "seeking prey" mindset.

If they hunt by smell, sealing the doors and windows with tape might suffice.

Depending on the canon material Romero zombies do exhibit some basic instinctual behavior. Limited tool use ie grabbing a crowbar or stick to bust a window in etc etc.
